You are SELLING something, right?
J

ps: ok, as long as there are people who say 'what should I do, whatever should I do' there will always be a market for daft books - some even work! Go for it my man. Steal money while you can.

No J, nothing is being sold here. Just a simple poll asking whether the way you think influences your life or if things seem to happen to you regardless of your attitude. wave

I believe it does. "As you think, so are you" and all that jazz.

I know a few people who seem to "enjoy" their negativity - cause they are always proved "right"!

A female friend always said she hated her job and wished they would fire her, so she could claim unemployment benefits ..... She got fired, and is now on unemployment.

Another person, when travelling by air, always predicted he would get the worst seat in the plane, just because he realy needed to have extra leg room - so he always got the worst cramped seat!
If an outing was planned to which he was invited - he predicted that "with his luck it would rain" - it always rained .... and then people gave up inviting him ..... So he got miserable, cause he said "I know I`m an old misery, but I`m always right!"

When one is positive about something ..... Well, I liken it to a child being absolutely positive about something, and stating it openly .... For sure there is going to be someone who hears this statement - and makes a very big effort to make it come true!

There is ancient wisdom in the idea that every action begins with a thought....

Thread Revisited

Reminds me of a Story I heard long ago in the Islands.
It's about a Miss Best.
That Lady was able to always see the Positive Side of Life.
She'd Say:"Well Child,it probably happened for the Best"
One day,her Husband, working at the Local Shipyard, fell off the Mast of the Sailing Sloop they were working on.
After he got Patched up,his Buddies brought him home, and and called out,Miss Best, your Husband fell off the Mast and broke his Leg.
Miss Best,:Well Child,it probably happened for the best, just put him in the Rocker on the Porch ,he'll be OK.
A week later the repairs on the Sloop were finished, and she went on her trip, got caught in a Hurricane and Disappeared Crew and all, except for Mr. Best.
smile dunno cool

have a good day unless of course u have made other plans smile

yes I believe it does. what you focus on multiplies in your life. i do a greatful list. I have been for about 3 or 4 years. i am so thank full for so many things and what i have focused on has just gotten better and better. i loved my car and now have the best one available, really. my house is the nicest i have ever lived in. and i am living in europe, can you believe that. and i love my friends and i have so many and some of the best friends i have ever had and my job is great, i am so thankfull for that and many things. and my love life, i just love to brag but don't want to jinx it but never ever dreamed it could be so very good and i met him on CS. i am just so thankfull. is it an illusion?? well my car certainly isn't.
and god did tell us to be thankfull for a reason. it works!

Wow nancamp, I'm really glad everything seems to be going so well for you. yay Long may you continue to enjoy life this side of the pond. We're a bit weird but generally harmless enough. Those lists of yours are a good idea too. We take so much for granted sometimes, don't you think?. cheers

Absolutely it makes a difference. It is called the self fulfilling prophecy. What you believe will happen, will happen.

The way you think affect the way you feel, the way you act, etc. If you think you are miserable, then that is what you will be. Likewise, if you try to think positive (like I usually try, not always easy though) then you will be happier and enjoy things much more.

It did for me. Until 3 years ago I was one of the most negative persons on earth. No self esteem, everything dark. Thanks destiny me and my ex left each other, and decided that i needed to change especially mentality wise. From that time I lost 30 kilos, I enjoy life and the most important I beleive more in my self.

A positive outlook has a lot of benefits.
Negativity interferes with our ability to see possible solutions to problems etc.

But a positive outlook is not "magic" as in the supposed "law of attraction".

There are very real problems in the world that cannot be willed away through a positive outlook.

When we are positive the effect is upon us.
We are different, more confident, more resourceful, more determined, etc. and therefore better able to function in the face of problems.

But the problems themselves are not affected by our positive outlook.

But being confident etc. means we have more possibilities to solve a problem to have ideas for solutions. If we approach a problem with negative thoughts we'll never be able to find a way out of it. My believe is, we need a positive outlook to be able to face all the difficulties we meet in our life and there are certainly enough of them.

HABIT is the most poweful force we have at our disposal!

Just getting into the habit of making tiny progress in little daily steps eventually leads to HUGE changes in your personal life, your working life, your lifestyle, your friends, EVERYTHING in your life changes just by making small easy little incremental steps EVERY day of your life! thumbs up wine yay

Ohhhh, tell me about it!! I know a few people who begin something VERY (mind you, very!) important to them stating "it's probably not going to work" right at the start, and then when it does NOT work indeed, they almost take special pleasure in saying "well I knew that's what would happen". help
