wanting2met: recent events as seen in the media, reminds me of John Mackroe days...is this acceptable...and are we for it??? or or and
There was a big debate on the radio show tonight that I was listening to whilst driving home from work... about the tennis..and around how the crowd like to heckle by copy catting the sounds that some female players make.
So, it goes two ways..
either the player has a hissy or the crowd hissy the player it seems..
Whats the grumble about, its what draws the crowd, whether its, its tennis, cricket, footy or two race car drver`s sorting it out after the race, about who had the corner first, we`re fast becoming a nation of sooky la la`s, leave em alone.... jmo.
Yeah right!!! with everyone either side like the clown sideshow at carnivals with their heads turning back and forth, only diference is there tennis balls not ping pong balls trying to get rammed down their wide open gobs,,,,,,

AgentAjax: Remember bad boy John Mcenroe it wasn’t just he's tennis that use to bring big crowds.
thats so very true agent...then again in his day the players could really play and entertain...but all said and done the tempo of their antics only last for few days then something else takes the lime light

that was the only time I use to watch tennis…I just love a good spit at the ref…. and laugh at the fines that follow
well it seems most of us dont care to much of the antics of our tennis players be that as it is...with 48% dont care and 56% being female...thats interesting...tks for all who voted and made a comment this was my first attempt at a poll,so tks 2 all

Why would you say that
Carl96190: Tennis. Another pointless sport that involves a ball. I would rather watch grass grow.
I think we are lucky to have sport entertainment... I dont follow tennis but I sure enjoy watching at the moment... and that doesn't mean that I sit there all day and night... I just watch snippets of the series and those players who are mighty and powerful. ( n play the game as if they are planning ahead..)
You can sit and watch grass grow any ole time..
Perhaps if we were not treated to such entertainment, maybe then you'd appreciate what we as a country host..

Just saying...
here, have a coldie... you might like it more..
The only possible interest for me is the female Russian and eastern European players, especially their legs in those short skirts (I am a leg man). In Russia they seem to have tennis players who could double as swimwear models.

Not sure what behaviour you are referring to?
The bad sportsmanship, grunting, screaming? both and more?
Personally can't stand the noise from the grunters and screamers and tried muting the sound but it doesn't work, you loose to much of the commentary and the game.
Tennis is now big business, they are on a constant global treadmill of tournament after tournament. It pays incredibly well if you are in the top tier of players so that has an effect on tennis as a 'game'.
Jan 24, 2012 1:17 PM CST should we accept the behaviour of tennis players as recently reported in the press???

Carl what you say about the grunting and tai kwan do/martial arts is probably true but that doesn't explain their total disrespect and lack of consideration for their opponents, spectators, viewers who have to listen to that bloody racket!! (pardon the pun)
They should have knocked it on the head years ago.
Some people say it is a legal form of cheating, because by screaming/grunting their opponent can't hear the racket hit the ball so that they can judge the speed etc?
