Alone or alone forever; while simply being alone can be by choice; alone forever hints at another concept, one not conducive to being happy in any way without necessarily meaning 'alone forever'.
Frankly, I would not recommend either for anyone.
As long as I have my cats, I won't be 'alone'. As for the latter, hey, nothing is better than daily being with someone that you'd rather not be around...we all get what and/or whom we deserve...even if it is no one.

and in the meantime I would prefer not to be in a committed relationship - I am interpreting "alone" here to mean - being single and not living with a spouse or romantic partner

and no, for me the physical attraction is very much a part of being in love, and no it does not require a shared lifetime

no not at all - my car doesn't make me feel less alone even tho it's tres cool
- physical attraction is an important part but not the only thing. and it's interesting - a very good looking man who is physically attractive but mean no longer is perceived as attractive
I have had that happen recently where an attractive man behaved like a total jerk the other day, and when I look at him now I no longer perceive him as attractive - just as kinda .... pathetic
so there is a lot of room for interpretation on what constitutes love and attraction
I was answering the OP regarding being alone...I prefer it to "settling" and that has been my stance for quite some time!

Being "forever alone" is for sure a personal choice. I have taken that path and have no problem with it for now.
