Merriweather: I have been a widow now for 28 yrs this august. Considering the amount of deaths each year, its not surprising that many many people are widowed..
Also, a lot remarry.
I believe some scammer's use the widowed option to pull on heart strings. Pity because as you say there are a lot of genuine people out there and I remember one widowed gent put up a thread about it as he was not taken seriously.
What I am trying to question, and share...On this site, the majority of emails received are from "Widowed Men" By all means, in USA, it is hard to believe that 95% of the men that show interst are all widowed. I do not at all mean to insult anyone, I just don't believe them, in other words, they are in search and ask out right for your personal email or phone number, isn't that a bit odd??!!! That's why I like to keep in touch with those on the blogs and threads....I hate being scammed ;)
being separated some years, now widower.a very sad stage . it is true most of scammers say they are widowers and lost their partners in horrible accidents. But a widower male/female is a normal person that suffered a lot,and should be treath normal, isnot a disease or a problem is part of life itself.
2Whitedoves: Pardon me if I didn't get the proper noun in the correct place, I hope you understood my question to spite my improper grammer.
Don't worry about it.Yes I understood your question.I've just never heard the term for men that way.I apologize if I came off rude to you.Ment no harm.
2Whitedoves: So many Widowed men, yet hardly any Widows. Do men simply live longer???
Hm, I've been a widower 10 years now. Dated since then but never married again. Wonder how long after being either a widow or widower that one may just use "single" to describe their status, instead of widow or widower?
just reading through the forums and I can relate to your position having also been separated many years and my ex passed away in february, It is a very difficult time and the grief is as raw at timesas if our separation never happened. I sympathize and emapthize with you. I had my status as separated on my profile before my ex died and I cant bring my self to change my status to widowed.
Thirty years ago I went out with a man on St. Patricks Day who said he was widowed. I was excited about the date and even bought green clothes for it. We dined, we danced and when he took me home he was surprised that we didn't do the horiziontal boogie. Long story short, I eventually learned that he was married with a wife that was very much alive.
I believe the men on here that I've known for a long time if their profile says they are widowed. Other then them, it could be a ploy and it could be the truth but like everything else in life, once you lie to me, you are forever a liar.

scammers use "widower" as a ploy. redflags: them asking for your email address. these days they don't even ask for yours, they give you theirs no, these are scammers, they claim to live in the US. in real life, women live longer than men but there are some genuine widowers though, however, I doubt that they are on CS, looking for new wives

Not necessarily; perhaps many women simply burn out faster through drugs and/or alcohol, go into irreversible depressions for any number of reasons and finally suicide, not even mentioning health reasons such as diseases, heart problems, etc. This website is only a tiny microcosm of surviving members that were once a couple. In others, as the age goes higher, the numbers of widows increase five fold if not more. It would be really surprising that if this were a site merely for the 20's and 30 somethings to have almost any at all in either category. Death in all forms takes all age groups...there is a long waiting list for all.

I tend to agree with you - many of these supposed widowers are scammers and ruining things for any genuine fellow. Men do tend to remarry sooner and more often - statistically, at least in the US - IDK if that impacts what happens on here tho
maybe widowed women are less apt to say they are widowed in profiles
my biggest things with widowers (the legit ones) is I am afraid of always being compared to an exaggerated angelic portrait of a deceased spouse...
I was working 5 years ago, when my wife died. Now I am retired. some people call it baggage that I have. I do have a few pictures of her in my house. We had 20 years of a wonderful relationship. No kids, she had three before we got together. I had no kids before. It is true, looking for another relationship is hard. At first I put in my profile widow but when I changed it to single, I started dating some. To me this is a false profile, just like posting a younger age. My dating always stops because of false profile. Relationships take time to build, they don't happen over night. I cannot remarry because social security law says I will lose her social security income. Most women my age are dead or have something wrong with then and about to die. I really don't want the hurt of burying another love. I have no purpose now. So do I be honest or lie?

Thank you, you weren't rude at all, I just wonder why the scammers go through SO much trouble...just to get a list of addresses? I am sure I am out of the loop in that type of world! Thank you for writing back. Peace is an awesome gift!

Hmm, well, I don't know that answer, but through filing my taxes, I have learned after 10 years of being divorced, your status returns to single. Don't know if that is true either, probably a way the gov. gets more money from their citizens

You hit the nail right on the head! Your reply's and feedback are very well stated! Thank you...

you are going to have to decide what you want. If you are having a date to your home, take down the pictures. If the social security income stops you from marrying someone you fall in love with I feel sorry for you indeed. Your post explains perfectly why I am very cautious to not date widowers. I am older and there is nothing wrong with me, but you are too attached to your deceased wife to be dating (in my opinion anyway) good luck to you
I was told by lots of bl**dy General US army that their wives died while they were giving birth babies. And the survived babies need step mothers. And I am the one whom chosen by them by random on skype. The General US army speak broken English more than me. Wow!!! Poor General !!! They worked so hard in the front line and got no time to learn English.
