I used to enjoy it.. Now I'm not really sure if I enjoy it or not since people there are now into bashing each other and are competing to be the Alpha males and females, the wizards the fairies and all of those craps... They are always too serious in EVERY single thing.. I try to change that but I can't since I might be considered the beta.. I mean gamma female.. Yep.. I'm Asian, and I'm not into discussing what they call "smart" topics. My blogs are almost all about poking my own race, my silly experience and that's all..

Some are good though I agree with you about the bashing, though it seems to me a few trolls are responsible for most of it IMO

I like a combination of serious debate and fun, either separately, or together (sometimes if its a heavy topic a bit of light relief does no harm).
The problem comes when there are hostilities such that people are likely to be banned. You then have to play it very straight and drop some of the banter in case its misconstrued...especially if you have a British sense of humour.
If we Brits flinging petty insults at each other, it usually means we're getting along very well and laughing a lot. Its how we flirt. That's not happening at the moment, the petty insults are ones designed to create bad feeling and hostility, or to gain power and control.
I once post a blog about how to be a "flower boy" it was meant to be funny.. Some did find it funny, but a lady told me in the most cynical way in CAPS that she "appreaciate how I put so much effort" just to make the blog. Some of them really think they're smarter than everyone else.

Very much agree. I seriously admire your comments, you DO know when to be serious and when to play around, but I saw not so many people can accept jokes..

Some of it is different culture, different traditional sense of humour, and some times trolls just wanting to cause trouble.

Sometimes people don't understand that the greatest power is giving, not taking. Most of us go through stages like this, but grow out of it.
I think perhaps its more of a problem when a group of people who want to take from others, gravitate together. As a group they collectively try and take, but their own needs means they can't quite give to each other as a group, either.
Thank you for the compliments. Now I'm intrigued as I can't recall your previous user name. A different pic and different name is more than enough to confuse me.

backintolight: Dear Tom, my blog has nothing to do with the traditional culture.. Only the subject, I chose to poke my own race.. So I consider the "troll" a troll
No but your outlook and responses are coloured by your culture and outlook, and you yourself have realise that sometimes humour does not translate into another mind set, and trolls are trolls most of them just want to cause trouble. I am not bashing you sorry your marriage broke up

No you're not bashing me.. But most of people who were commenting on my blogs are not Asian :) And they did find it funny.. Now if others enjoy the blog and you don't enjoy the blog and decided to mock the writer, wouldn't you call yourself trolling?

Don't be sorry for my marriage. I don't feel sorry at all that it has to end.

Ahhaa! Of course! Its all slotted into place now and yes I do remember you. Yes, you made me laugh then, as now.
Welcome back and congratulations on becoming a mum. I've become a grandma since you've left. It all happens here, doesn't it?
Yes do like the blogs. I joined one year ago when there no so much "fightings". There will come a time that the blogs seems to quiet and some people complain why. Then there are times when the actions are terrible almost "killing each other". And there will come peace after. What I like most in the blogs are the nice people I meet there and the fun (not all of the times, we have disagreements also).

I read them comment if I feel like and move on. I find them not much different than the forums. The reason I gravitate to the blogs usually is the friendliness. They are quicker to respond to a post. Here I comment and once in a while I actually get a comment back. So I have decided I would try it now without a picture maybe I was scaring people away I do try and stay away from blogs and forums that seem to get mean spirited in a personal way. And I try to keep my humor and not take things personal or to serious
