How can you tell if a politician is lying? Their lips are moving!
Politicians are in there for power, prestige amongst their own kind, and the money (which relates to power and prestige).
People the world over live their lives in their respective countries in spite of their political leaders. Not because of what their political leaders do for them.
And politicians in a supposed democracy will say whatever they think will get them elected or re-elected so that they can continue to line their own pockets.....

Obstinance_Works: We used to have great leaders in the past... I blame suffrage, more specifically, women's suffrage.
My guess is that the political past was just as void of integrity as the present.
It's just that people didn't have the internet, so the media's "official truth" was the only available source of information.
Nowadays we are more directly and immediately aware of just how dirty the political world really is and so our idols tarnish quickly.
