You know what? I tend to agree with you there. You have to tie big egos in with that too.
I am also really sick and tired of these people seemingly being above the law. I think if you run for a position...any position..and it concerned "everybody" that you represent and you are corrupt...sit in jail even longer!

LOL...I hear ya!
It is pretty scary though that these people are making "rules" for us and they break their own rules all the time and seem to be ammune..Or....if you have $$$$$$$$$$$ you can just buy your way out. These people in my opinion are really not in touch with reality as far as understanding how it affects everything. All that education and dumb as a rock!
I also think that some do it for the "connections" in business and to create power for others that benefit them.. Sorry...must be the past 8 years and then you look back..lol

Yep, Yep, yep! It all boils down to GREED, POWER, MONEY!!! Plain and simple...if ye ain't got it...to hell with us! It is well know that the prerequisite to politics is to be as crooked as a dogs hind legs!

Oh I agree...nobody is above the law...but the problem is even some cops think they're above the law too these days and their the ones who are suppose to be upholding it...so corruption is rampant and linked all over too much for the law to be applies evenly as is should be....
Even a politician with the most altruistic ideals cannot be seen for their efforts as the wrangling to undo even one piece of red tape that has been stamped upon the nation takes countless degress of patience, effort and time. The leaders of our countries come into nests of discord that have yet to be unravelled many leaders ago. It is unfair to judge them by these terms as what they can accomplish and what they attempt to do are often very different things.
On the other hand with the state of political affairs it does not seem as though the years have been kind to us and the vast majority have undertaken their own agendas rather than seek to redirect our flailing nations. I suppose it is much akin to any job though. I wonder how many doctors/lawyers would have patients/clients if their grade point average were prominently displayed on their diplomas. 51% and 100% are vastly different levels of congress towards a a prescribed field and surely have something to do with committment and level of ability to perform their respectful duties. In any job when you feel the overwhelming odds against you for change in a healthy direction, there is a tendency to drag ones feet and count the hours until the day is done. Not very endearing for positions of such great authority but they are after all merely human. Well most of them...

What good is the law if the very people who are charged with enforcing it can't be human and think they are entitled to be above the law. Their purpose is to serve us...we pay them! In turn..they impose more restrictions that most of them disregard themselves and we lose more and more freedom while they gain it through power... I say..revolution..he he he
You asked about MOST politicians.......I would say ALL politicians are in it for the money. None of them care about the country. As soon as they are elected, they start eyeing their next step in political power

Sounds like a power trip to me otherwise they or people in their immediate vicinity will gain which means the are "fixing" it and screwing everyone else.
I think most get into it out of a sense of duty or maybe to address one issue or another at the local level. But once they win a higher office it turns into to full blown ego trip and a way to guarantee a big paycheck whenever they go back to the private sector as a lobbyist or on a board of directors or in speaking fees or chancellor of a university, etc.
And then there are people like Duhbya born into privilege who don't have any real skills so he must have figured what the heck, I'll be a lap dog for my fat cat buddies.
I agree with this guy but, it also goes a little deeper the two terms of bush and all the missing votes, Mc Cain (The Mancherian Candidate-North Vet. has expressed their happiness for him as a nominee) and Palin (what ever her name is) who lobbed hard to have Aalska as a separate Nation. Real American, oh yeh. Obama and Bidin and so on and so forth It's like the man said- "it's B.S". I like to just add-"B.S. by design". We are all just a cog in the wheel that turns something much bigger.
