velsix: I've been on my own for 14 years now, after having failed in two marriages and countless relationships. I am not bitter and have accepted that I was at fault because of my lack of consideration and honesty with my partners. Having said all that I am not lonely, I enjoy my solitude and freedom from responsibilities. Being a pensioner myself also Popey and having lived quite a full life, I have been fortunate enough to be able to fend for myself.
I have two dogs that have given me a new lease of life and being on here has made me realise how many people there are, who need people and I too would love to meet someone who I could spend my last days with, one must never give up searching.
Sorry to go on a bit
Good post by the way....

Excellent post Velsix. I am not a forum guy myself and I have only looked in here because the women in my area of Ireland who are on here are a mixture of time wasters and sleepers. So their chance of meeting anyone here is a zero in my opinion. Yours is almost the only sensible answer to this interesting question and topic. Others choose and prefer to talk about all sorts of totally unrelated B.S. lol

I feel is is always much better to live alone in a peaceful and happy environment than it is to be living with the wrong person. It is all about creating the correct balance of alone time and together time that suits both people best. Depending on the other person and how easy they are to be around and the depth of compatibility that exists determines how much happy time two people will enjoy together before starting to get on each others nerves ? It is extremely rare to enjoy being in anyone's company 24/7.

I think it is sensible and always best for two people to continue to live independently of one another. You can stay over with her and likewise she can stay over with you, but it is always wise to continue to have your own private bolt hole to retreat too. This guarantees that your sanity will be maintained and preserved.

Zero debating skills here. A huge lack of communication skills and "meaningful" conversation. Could this the reason WHY you are all actually here ? Set a course for Uranus Mr.La Forge. Warp speed OUT of here.

YES I DO! Sometimes.

My job means I am with people all day so there are times when I cherish the not having to speak to anyone time.

Then there are days when I wish I had someone special to do the things I do with? cool

But I would rather be single than be with the 'wrong' person? bouquet

There is a difference between being alone and being lonely. I actually prefer being alone, that's the time when I'm most creative, when I go on my travels, when I meet new people and make new friends. It takes someone very special for me to give up all the positives that being single has.
