Japtas: For the love of Nelson Mandela

He was certainly ONE of the greatest men of his generation, without doubt. But if he was in his 90s when he sadly passed away recently, he was around the same time as Martin Luther King.....

There are many more 'heroes' of our time that probably are not so much in the media and, therefore, don't get so much high-profile recognition but are worthy of such similar accolades.

That's not to take anything away from him but we can build people up to colossal proportions and end up with expectations not achievable by mere mortals if we allow ourselves.

I believe the world is a poorer place without him, yes, but so we are by so many others.....

Marie Curie
William Wilberforce
Alexander Fleming
Louis Pasteur
Michael Faraday
Albert Einstein
Issac Newton
Benjamin Franklin
Emmeline Pankhurst (well done, New Zealand!)
Rosa Parks.....

Well he's never done anything for me. Quite the contrary, he's the pin up icon for prating race pimps and self-annihilators from across this once fair isle. So my answer is no he's not the greatest man.

But if I was White and South African then I'd consider myself very, very lucky to have not been shot dead by now, and I'd attribute this largely to Mandela. So in that circumstance I would consider him to be great. The great pacifier of the Blacks.

Here's a strange fact.

Both Martin Luther King and Anne Frank were born in the same year, but had powerful effects in different times.

Mandela was a very great man. The greatest of his generation, I don't know. Others are great in other ways. But a very great man indeed. The world should have more of such men and women.
