Fraya: I'm a woman Tiny. I have spent most of my life as protector.
I wonder if your desire for the big strong fire starter is more a romantic wish than a need?

I have spent most of my life as a protector too, Fraya, but I can not say I enjoyed it, never felt I was meant/cut out for it, but someone had to rise, and generally it ended with me having to be that one.

It is a need for me personally, Fraya, if I wish to achieve personal contentment. Have I survived without it?
I'd not be typing here a you if I had not...

There will be no silly hats and banners and pins, sorry having to disappoint bouquet but no doubt more threads from him (I assume at least) and my occasional ranting/rambling in support, venting my pain about the fact that indeed that is where we find ourselves now, while it definitely was not ever a destination I personally wished to arrive at...

Off to chase some free people in Middle Earth about - Sauron needs all the help he can get too grin wave

I think what most people, both male and female, need in this life is compassion and support. Then both genders might learn to rise to any challenge without fear of failure or judgement.

tinyfangs: The problem with our law system is

The patriarchy you describe is one I have grown up in

You are correct, the legal system is rigged against men. That is inequality but the Feminists who want 'equality' seem to have no problem with it. Then again, they do say they want 'equality FOR WOMEN', not plain old 'equality'.

The Patriarcy you are talking about is simply a man taking care of his family. That's not the Patriarcy Feminist describe in their political dogma. They define it as a system of oppression against women, run by men, for the benefit of man; not at all a benign thing but a system of control and domination.

Yes, that is why I said in a previous post somewhere that my definition of 'patriarchy' differs from disctionaries, although it might not even be that, but rather the images this word now rises in the minds of most who hear the word. To me a man being the head/leader of his household is not oppression. None in our family was ever 'oppressed', it was a with each other, but still my father led from the front and he did a wonderful and reassuring job that benefitted all of us.

That's totally right. Even the Feminist definition of Patriarchy differers depending on who you talk to but it always boils down to men oppressing women, for the benefit of men. It's never portrayed as a beneficial family structure unless they are talking about indigenous non-white cultures.

Interesting, I have always said that if theres gender quota equality in the good jobs well so be it on the the not so nice jobs, I don't see why women can't work on the roads, doing carpentry driving tractors and trucks , there very capable of doing those jobs as it dosent take a lot of strength , yep I am starting to like where this gender equality is going but behind it all gender equality is unobtainable and is only used by groups to sweep aside the opposition to get the goodies.

That would be grand. Off to the pub and leave the child in the pram at the bar with a half pound of butter to play with.

I believe in equal rights. In some ways men have better rights, and in some ways women have better rights.
