rizlared: Well his comment doesn't make me uncomfortable or even come close to hitting a nerve, I just sometimes question why we need to quote from certain people from the past, it makes the assumption they knew better than those around us today. In 50 years maybe people will be quoting Katie Price with just the same conviction in her ideology.

I am not sure his ideology plays such an important role in 2014, although accept some of his philosophy has created useful debates which possibly lead to a better understanding.

Well personally I can relate to the quote of his I posted. It matters not to me who made the quote, what is meaningful to me is my perceived truth in what lies within.

Death penalty?
They don't hand these out for parking violations.
If they are guilty of something worthy of the death penalty, then let karma come munch on 'em!
There were a bunch of pansies over here cryin' about waterboarding suspected terrorists at 'Gitmo' in cuba.
Those do-gooders thought that was harsh. They don't realize that if they went down there and unchained one of those dudes, he'd slit their thoat in thanks.
No, some people just don't need to take up our air anymore.

MrRick77: Is it really a botched job if the person still died ?

Try a poll on execution methods...that would be much more interesting...

Delatude: It served the intended purpose, after all he died of a heart attack instead of a shotgun blast like his victim!

Death penalty I support when guilt is beyond a shadow of doubt... but our legal system is so screwed up I fear we may execute as many innocent as guilty. Also, many infamous gang leaders are able to run their operations in the prison.

kennn: I don't agree with the death penalty. But on the flip side, murderers have far more rights than their victims did. Laws must be properly followed and they do have their rights within our legal system.

I don't get this supposition that murderers have more rights than their victims.

The victim had the right to life. Being murdered doesn't change the fact that they had the right to life. That's why we take legal measures against perpetrators.

If the victim lost their right to life when they lost their life, we wouldn't take punitive measures against the perpetrator.

Punishment and loss of freedom is a loss of human rights, rights that are forfeited when a murder is committed, so murderers have fewer rights than their victim.

" To deny people their human rights is to challenge their very humanity." Nelson Mandela

Most people who want to keep the death penalty do so as an act of vengeance, while the anti ones think its not working as a deterrent as there are over 3,000 people on death row in the land of Uncle Sam?
