The banning of electronic cigarettes is absurd and idiotic. It proves that the public health rhetoric invoked to ban smoking was bull since the same rhetoric is being invoked to justify banning e-cigs which produce only harmless water vapor. The real reason was and always has been control. They are even invoking the "think of the children" rhetoric absurdly claiming that e-cigs are being marketed to kids when they are primarily marketed as an aid to quitting smoking cigarettes. The entire thing is a load of kneejerk stupidity.
peachmelba: i used to smoke ten ciggerettes habitually for years then our government banned the sale of tens to up it to 20 saying that it would deter smokers from buying them as it be twice the expense, what a load of bull I was soon smoking 20 a day,yes governments are good business people tax tax tax that's the bottom line, thank god I gave up 3 months ago I went cold turkey but some people get addicted to them e ciggerettes too but better them than the actual cigs,
You make it sound like it was one person's decision... there is a whole process and a whole lot of voices involved in a variety of different states with both the legalization of some drugs and the banning of electronic cigarettes.
Everyone forgets that the tobacco companies were taken on by the government for putting in more addicting qualities into the cigarettes and the states lost the fight against the evil corporations.
Prohibition did not work for alcohol it doesn't work on the war on drugs.
and really, since when is anything that humans do, logical?
Nothing wrong with E-cigs, they don't smell like the actual cigs. Also why would anyone smoke, snort, shoot up dope? If you do drugs, I guess you really don't care about anyone. Drugs are about as useful as shock therapy treatment.

The thing about e-cigs is that they're untested and not regulated. We don't actually have any idea of the health consequences of using them.
I was anxiously puffing away on my 'peace pipe' (y'know, the pipe version of an e-cig) one day when doing a particularly difficult piece of work to a deadline. The next day, I noticed I had a mild rash on my face where I'd been puffing away whilst looking downwards, the vapour floating up to my face. It made me wonder what it was doing to my throat and lungs.
I'm gradually weaning myself off the cigarette substitute now I've weaned myself off the cigarettes. I think perhaps part of the problem is that people see e-cigs as a permanent substitute and we don't know the long-term health consequences of that.
On the other side of the coin, everyone I know has either given up smoking, or is in the process of giving up since substitutes have become available.
As for other substance misuse, it might be wretched being dependent upon drugs, or alcohol, but I bet my bottom dollar for many people they are a form of self-medication in the absence of better understanding, awareness, care and support. In that respect, they are useful in some way to some people, however dysfunctional they appear to be to those who have never had that experience.
Conrad73: you need to go back to the Drawing Board!
Hmm interesting
New Yorkers are no longer allowed to smoke electronic cigarettes in any place where smoking regular cigarettes is prohibited, including bars, restaurants, offices, parks and beaches.
The amendment to the Smoke-Free Air Act, a 2002 law, takes effect today and means that electronic cigarettes are now treated the same as regular cigarettes.
