You don't have to be locked up behind a door. My parents had such a tight rein in on me that it's a miracle I was allowed to walk to school. Controlling someone's mind could be just as bad as being locked up behind a door.

I use to sleep in a tree when I was a child. In one of our trees there were some branches that would intersect and my body fit perfectly in them; I would take a little pillow with me for my head; i would be up there for hours- I have never slept so good in my life. I think its why I developed insomnia as I got older- could never reach that type of comfort- I remember harmless tree snake from time to time- lookin at me, i would just stare back at it and fall asleep.....

Yes.
I stole some sweets from a sweetshop when I was about eight. To punish me, I was grounded for a week, which was made worse as it was the school summer holiday, and confined to my room. The only exception, was to use the bathroom.
It was a lesson to teach me that stealing is bad, and I'd get a lot worse should I continue and be caught as an adult.
I didn't steal after that, so it was a good lesson
My sister hated babysitting me as a kid.. She had friends round one night and was being funny locking me in the pantry. Unfortunately for her there was a box of matches in there and I set fire to the pantry. She was in big trouble when the old folks got home. The house stunk of smoke

You little firestarter you....
Yeah, got locked in the boot of my folks car. My brothers and I were playing chicken and brave with how long we could stay in there. The boys had their turn and then when it came to mine.....they left me there with boot locked. Dad rescued me, thankfully, when he was going off to the milking shed....he heard my screams. It was a good 10 minutes later though and it was blardy hot in there....

if i didn't get straight 'A's on my report card during grade 6-10, i was grounded to my bedroom for 30 days...(year end reports prior to summer break were not included...)
it was a rinse and repeat cycle a couple times a year
(it wasn't that bad... i had a tv in my room, a phone, and learned to enjoy my own company and be self entertaining..)
apparently i was a bit unmanageable during ages 4-8...
there are numerous photos in the family photo album where i am tethered with a large rope around my waste... to a staircase, a salt block at the ranch, the front porch, a log at the beach... as a series, they are quite comical. and before ya go judging my parents... summers were at a ranch, and lots of places too dangerous for a wandering wee girl.
on a serious note... i lived with my grandparents when i was four. i was small for my age and quite indignant that they insisted i slept in a crib. equally resentful that i should 'nap', i would not stay in it. so they would put me in there and then put a big board over the top so i could not escape...
Age 6 and my sister 4 we were driven, by several farmboys, into a grain store and barricaded in. It was some time before they released us. I can't bear confined spaces now and when my mum blocked me from getting out of my bedroom I threatened to jump out of the window. At the very least I would have smashed it.
