JeanKimberley: Thought I would be humorous.... with the photo.....
I want to take a train ride through Scotland.
You really should. Fort William to Mallaig. Amazing! Eagles, stags, the lot. Watching the viaducts and following carriages as you roll round the track.
RainComeShine: I've been on quite a few of these little things and once looked into having one in my garden. I only have a small garden now but you never know!
I judge for a school competition called "Oddysey of the Mind" which is creative activities for children from kindergarten through to high school. This years problem was to create an train and train track system that could navigate through some bumps and have a theme of the journey it took. It was so amazing to see these young minds in teams solve this problem.
After seeing the "trains and traintracks" they created - also they could not use model trains they had to build their own with their own way of propelling the engine ...
So I understand the delight in having a little train travel through your garden.... perfect for the garden fairies.....

RainComeShine: Yes i remember hitch hiking. I've never done it but came close to it when, age 17, my moped broke down. Loads of vehicles passed me by then a small truck stopped with a man who'd lost one of his legs. He threw my bike onto the back of his truck and dropped me right to my door. I lived way out in the sticks and I regularly remember his kindness.
Iv just remembered one of the strangest lifts iv given, i was at a truck stop in belgium late one night, had stopped to make coffee and a knock came on the door, it was a woman asking for a lift, she looked slightly upset or just a little distressed. Turned out she had just left her husband and children, she said the husband was abusive. But she had met this other guy online and wanted a lift to antwerp in belgium, i knew the place she said she was meeting him, so i gave her a lift and waited for the guy yo turn up, they met and hugged and kissed all looked ok and they really looked pleased to be together..... it was the first time they had ever met....

I wish I'd had you for a teacher. That sounds like such fun.
I do remember us having to blow an egg then make something with it. I made a caravan. One of my other loves ie old or quirky caravans.

OMG that sounds risky but then staying with her ex was more risky.

Thats what i thought, but i thought leaving her at a truck stop in belgium late at night was more dangerous.... just hope it all worked out for her and she sorted her kids out.... live is very strange at times

Well I wouldn't leave my kids with an abusive man that was abusive to me he could be to anyone,
Maybe her ex wasnt abusive maybe she just left them all for the twerp in Antwerp,
,
Or maybe he wasn't and she got her kids and they lived happy ever after,

It was very strange at the time, and it wasnt for me to judge her at the time, and truck stops late at night are not the safest especially belgium, alot of truck drivers get robbed, they blow gas into the cabs and then break in and rob you, never happened to me there, but it did in spain, broke and hungry for seven days

Yes I wasn't judging the woman. ,,
It was her own business and you did the right thing and she was safe.
Your experiences of a truck driver and thankfully you came out half in tact,

Thank you And believe it or not i literally was half in tact I had to buy a whole new wardrobe after that trip to spain, seven days of not eating 34 jeans down to 30 ah it was an experience.....
RainComeShine: I think mine would have to be train. What better way to see our beautiful country.
I hate wasting time and there are still things I can do whilst travelling by rail.
It's a shame we don't have those cute little compartments anymore. They were even more fun.
Aircraft takes you the furthest the soonest! After that, bus, train and car (bus and train for holidays, you see more scenery when you're not the one doing the driving!).
well, it used to be a plane I used to look so forward to jump on. But I think if close I really enjoy a nice walk or even a bicycle ride. Of course a fine running auto is a nice feeling for getting around town or making our way to the mountains or coastline.

Some places you just have to walk and get out there with the elements.
