I studied the list and honestly could not choose a favorite. Each of those songs - with the exception of "Mary's Boychild" which I'm not familiar with - brings special memories and scenes to mind. As do many others which didn't make the list...
And there are some that I love that aren't traditional carols:
"I'll be Home for Christmas"
"Christmas Through Your Eyes" (Gloria Estevan)
and, I think it's called "The Christmas Song", but I'm not sure.....we all know it...it begins with "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire", and the best is Nat King Cole's version.

I agree with you K. I read the least and each one brings back images of my children singing in carol services and being so happy with themselves. cant pick one
My favourite traditional carol is not listed either. I love all Christmas music but I absolutely adore O Holy Night. Of the modern songs I don't think I can pick a favourite.

I'm a Christmasaholic.
O Holy Night is filled with the absolute true meaning of Christmas. It always redirects my attention when I become too fixated on the commercial Christmas. All of the songs on the list have wonderful memories of my past holidays attached to them. I wish all of you out there a very merry Christmas. Wow, it's not even Thanksgiving yet.
harmonynowell: The only Christmas song I really like is "Fairytale of New York" by the Pogues Not into the traditional crap (IMO)
I just knew someone would mention this, have said it before I just dont get why ppl like it. To me is one of the worst songs I have ever had the misforrtune to hear and almost throw the radio out the window when it comes on.

Hi Vonney...Please stop telling me your weaknesses ....You know im going to use them against you
just to satisfy my own sad humour
"and the bells were ringing out for Christmas day"...Ill post it to ya
I'm not Christian, rather I am a buddhist. But this song has words in it that embody one of the most precious tenets of my sect, that of Treasures of the Heart.
I am a poor boy, parumpa pum pum I have no gift to give, parumpa pum pum I play my song for him, parumpa pum pum parumpa pum pum, parumpa pum pum...
I've never had riches, in the material sense at least. But on holidays, and special occasions, I apply the talents given to me, the treasures of my heart, to give a gift more profound than any store-bought item. I write a poem, or paint a picture, or sing a song...
These gifts are worth more than anything Bill Gates, Rockefeller, or Carnagy ever owned. In that, I am a rich man, and I give these riches freely, because they are free, and the recipients are thus enriched far more than any bauble might provide...
One of the first jobs I ever had was working in Woolworths, (sad I know), but yeah, I managed to get myself put onto the record counter It was Xmas '88, and I was subjected and tortured by being TOLD I had to play the entire album 3 times daily of "Sing-along a Christmas Max Bygraves" and that bloody song was on it!!!! NO, STOP LAUGHING, IT'S NOT FUNNY DUDE!!! Strange how much double standards they had, I was told that I could play anything as long as it was in the charts Hmm... I got about 30 seconds of Blackened from Metallica's ...And Justice For All lp before my supervisor said I couldn't play it!!!! It was #4 in the album chart!!!!
woolworths!!! wow, that just brought back memories! we had one of those stores in my home town of dublin, back in 1983, then wal-mart came. sorry too that you had to hear w.w. song so many times! bet you know it by heart huh??

I don't know it off by heart, but I do have the odd compulsive urge to smash up the stereo that it's being played on!!!
