I believe there are something out there. I have heightened sense of awareness since I am Deaf and I can see better and feel and know what people are saying beforehand. I have those gifts. I am not into new age stuff but I have experienced them. Had one kept going up the stairs and one time saw me. Freak me out but I told them to leave and they left. You have to command them to leave. I had one time at a closed roller rink outside and was punched in the stomach. And a photo was taken of a GREEN streak of light pretty low area just above the parking lot. They said a child was killed at the rink in 1965ish.. and the stabbing was in the stomach in the 1980s I think. I researched and someone told me about the stabbing. He told me he is a EMT responsible for that victim of stabbing in stomach! I said ah! That is why I felt punch in stomach. It was hard!
I saw a black mist one time above behind this young 20s woman at a seminar about letting it go and be free. I am Deaf so I did not want to bother listening and my then wife (years ago) was in the audience. I was sitting behind the stage waiting for her and seminar to be over at the paranormal expo. Anyway, the lady told the girl to stand back and then I saw it clearly this mist and I jumped and slight scream about that. I can see, I can feel, I can sense. For sense, I know what people are saying to me before they said things to me.
I saw another ghost.. at the paranormal expo right after I set up my booth. A pretty girl in white about my short height was standing behind the booth table next to my booth. It was clear visually then she disappeared when I said, "Whoa! I didn't see you there!" I told other exhibitors at the show and they said they knew of a story of this girl in that place where the expo was (former theater where she wanted to be actress but never got to).
I also met Jay and Brit from TAPS a few years ago when they were in town when I went to pick up my friend at the hotel where those guys were staying. They were in hurry to go out for dinner. Ha ha.
Another experience I had was at this abandoned house that my sister knew. Long story. Anyway, the ghost slammed the door as we were leaving and loudly heard saying, "Don't ever come back here again!" Whoa! So, I brought other friends and we were there, easily spotted her upstairs and was captured evident. And the ghost was choking our lady friend hard! So, we said we need to get out and we did and I said no more!! It is dangerous with the punching, and the choking. Paranormal investigation is dangerous physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I was trying to help people back then to understand the dangerous and apparently many did not want to listen and I said okay, no more. Other groups hated me. So.. Okay, and the one the most hated me is no longer a group! Judge, you get judged! It happened to them.
I grew up in a 150 year old haunted house. I've been able to see and hear them since I was a little girl. I thought everyone could. When I pointed them out to my mom, she would get very upset and tell me never to speak about it again. Doors would open and close without explanation. I could always here someone walking up and down the stairs when no one was there. I could also hear footsteps in the attic and basement.
I played in an old grave yard for years growing up. I would hear whispering, but it never freaked me out.
When my uncle died, we went to my aunt's house to visit with her. I knew my uncle would be there and for some reason I didn't want to come in the house. I stayed out in the car and fell asleep. I woke up with the sense that someone was staring at me. When I looked outside the car, my uncle's ghost was looking inside at me. I went inside and he did as well. Then he went down to the basement to his workshop where he spent most of his time.
When my grandma died, I was very distraught. She was more a mother to me than my own mother was. I cried a lot. Three days after her funeral, she came to my bed and sat down beside me and put her arm around me. She felt very real to me. She told me she loved me, but I had to snap out of it and get on with my life. We talked for a bit and then she disappeared. The scent of her rose perfume stayed in my room for hours.
As I got older, I lost my ability to see them, which was sad, but I could still hear them and sense them. When I got married and had children, the first house we moved into was haunted. It didn't freak me out because I was used to it. Once, during the fall, I was in the back yard with the kids watching them play in the sand box. I heard the gate open and the sound of footsteps crunching in the leaves coming up behind me. I thought it was my husband trying to surprise me so I didn't turn around. When he stopped right behind me, I said, "Aha!" and spun around. No one was there.
The only freaky thing about the haunting was that I could hear children crying at night. To a mother, this is very distressing. It always woke me up and I would have to check on my kids. The crying did not stop when I woke up either, but continued. When I checked my son and daughter's rooms, they had not been crying. After a few weeks I realized the crying was coming from the attic. So, in the middle of the night, I went up there to investigate. The crying would stop as soon as I would pull the ladder down. I would still get up every night with the crying and check on the kids. Then I would sing the ghosts a lullaby and tell them everything was all right.

Your posting Willow was most fascinating. I understand you're a writer, maybe you could write a book of your experiences ?.
I've had a few unusual experiences myself. I would hesitate to call them "hauntings" though. But briefly in one occurrence i was woken up in the middle of the night by loud music, presumably from somebody's blaring car stereo from outside. It wasn't until i fully woke up from my slumber that i realised the music was coming from inside the house. I got up out of bed and headed to the living room where i found my stereo system had somehow turned itself on, as well as changed radio station and the volume turned up high... The day happened to be Fathers Day, and this was the first year since the death of my late Father... i was also his carer in the later years of his life. I jokingly said at the time as i turned the stereo off,"thanks dad, but why the crappy radio station at 4 in the morning ?". Make of that what you will, but that was the first and only time the stereo has managed to turn itself on...bye the way, there was nobody else in the house. On other occasions i sometimes wake during the night (alone) with the strong smell of perfume in the air. I then drift off back to sleep and then when i awaken next, the smell has dissipated. Again i can't say if it's supernatural as i don't sense another presence in the room. I also had some scary experiences when i was a kid. Again when i was in bed, i woke up during the night with the feeling that the walls were closing in and the bed sheets were getting heavier and heavier to the point where i had to get out of bed and walk around for a while until the strange feelings subsided ... Thankfully these experiences have stopped since i become an adult... Except the more recent perfume smells as mentioned earlier ....

I never thought of writing a book about it. These things just never seemed out of the ordinary to me. My mom would get very upset about it though. When my grandpa died, my grandma told us of some weird things that happened to her. The bathroom light would turn on in the middle of the night. She would get up to turn it off and go back to sleep. A couple hours later a noise would wake her up and the light would be on again.
My grandpa loved to play cards, and after he died my grandma put the cards in a drawer because they were too painful to look at. One night she heard a noise in the kitchen and got up to investigate. The kitchen light was on and my grandpa's cards were on the table in a solitaire spread.
My mom got very upset when she heard this. I said, "Well, mom, how do you explain this?" She said, "It's just one of those things!" I said, "One of what things?" She got angry and refused to talk further about it.
I don't know why people get so freaked out about it. I find it reassuring that we continue on after death instead of fade out of existence.
