Clicked the first one because that's what I did. However, party days are well behind me, and I think most can agree in that there is much more to a person.
Theres been a pretty scarry news report this week here which I think has put me off ever meeting anybody from the internet ever again - unless really extensive measures are taken to assure me of their genuiness.
HJFinAZ: How else can one possibly begin to know another??
Birth certificates, School academic awards, Bank Statements Criminal and Health records, should be scanned and sent to potential mates, via their first e-mail.
No. I need to know who they are...their looks are irrelevant. It's the inner person I fall in love with, and I need to know something about that inner person before I date someone.

I concur! I need to know ALOT of somethings in the inner person before I would go on a date.

Send me your bank statements, I care not about the rest.
OH, be sure and wear those white pants on our first date..

Dru, are you seriously saying, that you have to fall in love with a man, before meeting them for a first date?
lusciousmile: Girls, it sound as if you have been dating online, all your lives.
What happens when you don't meet/talk to someone online (CS), for the first time? Do you wear a burka till you know them?
What are the emotional safety protocols, out there in real life?
Hiya Lusch, good to see you back
Im seriously reasessing my criteria - I once had a guy saying he could give me a recommendation from his ex wife if I liked which of course I laughed at but Im beginning to wonder

Yes, that's what it sounds like you are saying.
No, I don't have to fall in love with someone before going on a first date, but I have to know that there's something to attract me to them, and that has nothing to do with their looks, so I would need to know something about a person before going on a date.
Not an issue anymore, though...at this point, it's theoretical on my part.
fireliter: based on looks alone would you date someone?
No, I did that is in my first mariage, ended badly. A connection to my heart has to be made. That is what has happen between Dru and I. It is like nothing I have ever experienced before! WOW!

Good morning, Lush!
Morning, Dru & Trish.
I get you now. Yes, there are other important things one needs to know, online or in real life, that are important. However, if I met a guy in real life who hurriedly gave me their name and number or vise versa, because of some good reason ( running to catch his flight,) I probably would meet him if he asked. The most important thing is to meet in public places, I think.
Trish, that link should be seen by everyone.
I am on facebook to network with freinds, not get dates. I only almost went out on a date with a strange guy who contacted me there, but it didn't happen. I however, gave him a thorough 'check-up' and he failed the test, miserably. I no longer accept friend requests from strangers. He was the first and the last.
hopefloats: That just proves the point that you NEED TO KNOW more than just a NAME and a FACE!!!
Years ago, right here, it happened.
I have since forgotten the guy's stage name, but he snowed many a woman. He posted photos of some Scottish soccer player, wrote sweet and swaggering letters to many, obtained their phone numbers and scammed many, even those that I deemed to be clever. When finally many in his web came to meet here, there and everywhere, he came online and deliberately condemned and demeaned many an unsuspecting following.
Being old & senile, I have them tattooed in a secret place for safe keeping. You will have to come find them as I am also somewhat handicapped in sight these days..
Be sure to wear those white pants when you come looking for the tattoo's..
