True, but what does this have to do with gun control? Australia has outlawed the ownership of guns by it's citizens, yet there are still shootings. The honest citizens will always turn in their guns, but the criminals will keep theirs. Does this mean that the government want to rid itself of honest citizens through intimidation and murder? Does the citizenry deserve to have the ability to defend itself with the same firepower? Gun control doesn't mean safety for it's citizens. Look at California.... The most restrictive gun laws in the country and they have over 2000 gun murders a year.... Every state in The US that has authorized Concealed carry for it's citizens has seen a reduction in crime. Criminals want an easy target, not one that may shoot back.

not true zee......sorry, but when we had the gun amnesty, the government was paying top-dollar for the offending weapons, and you shoulda seen the amount of crims crawl out of the woodwork to give theirs in.....the number of ALREADY illegal firearms, owned by criminals, given in to authorities at the time of the amnesty was astounding.....the number of legal firearms that then became illegal at the same time, then given up for amnesty was also incredible....
unfortunatley for california, the illegal firearms are so easily accessed form other states, whereas here, we are an ocean away from everyone else, and it is a national law
BTW, zee, it is not illegal for all weapons......alot of people still have them, but we have strict licensing conditions that apply.....

I totally agree with this. As an owner of several firearms, I feel very strongly that gun control only reduces the number of guns that are in the hands of law abiding citizens. Criminals are emboldened when they aren't afraid of an armed victim.
