wixomwizard: God did the same for me! I have had TB, Polio, Cancer, a major Heart Attack last year and a auto accident that by all right's should have killed me, and yet, God delivered me. He has also given me a healthy son and daughter and that, in a way you would not believe. The first best friend I ever had was taken at a young age, my brother's first wife. She was the first person to ever be there for me on a personal level, without any attached condition. If I needed help with school work, she was there! If I just needed someone to talk too, she was there. Whatever the occasion and for no occasion at all...she was there. She and my brother came down with pneumonia at the same time. God took her and spared my brother. Why? My brother was still in the hospital when she was buried. Why? She left 2 babe's behind. Why?
I don't have the answer for those questions, but, I do know that my life was blessed for the short time she was around me...and not only me, but everyone who knew her.
All I know is that bad alway's accompanies good, and you have to accept them both.
Wixom I feel like when we survive bad things. And we get on with life. It is so we can tell the next person, or show the next person how not so bad it all is. I believe some of us have to suffer, to show the person that is not so strong, that there is a way to overcome most things. Now please don't everybody yell at once.

Ambrose2007: You're a rather complex - or dare I say, "dualistic"? - lady, Snuggie. (Can I call you "Snuggie," btw?)

Anyway, you sound like an atheist who's somewhat intimidated by Pascal's Wager...

Snuggie sound good to me.

rolling on the floor laughing Yeah, I guess I believe in God when I need Him and not when I feel betrayed.

To turn it around, I think whateve belief that I have in God gives me the strength to handle my life. Such as the other day.... I was a .... as you say.... an effin mess laugh My life was down the tubes for that day. But, I had the common sense to ask for help from my friends and sure as hell they were there for me.

We don't get all our smarts from books or the streets. Somewhere there is a power that shows us the way. So many people believe in Karma..... I don't.

If people are comfortable and believe in prayer, then it is good for them. Whatever works for each person is what they should do.

If God had an email address it would be crashing all the time.

Ambrose2007: I'm not sure why, but I just had this memory of a mouse my cat caught one day. She mauled and bit and battered that poor mouse within an inch of its life. Then she (my cat) appeared to grow bored and watched with apparent disinterest as the mouse clawed and scrabbled its way to safety.

I always wondered if the mouse felt grateful for my cat's tender mercies...

If I were the mouse, I sure would have.wave grin cheers

Crollydoll11: Hi Wixomwizard,
This is how i see it also.I do believe God always hears our prayers but only answers us by giving us what is best for us.It may not be what we want, but somewhere down the road there will be a good reason as to why he answered in this way....

Makes me wonder what the point of even asking is, if God already knows what's best for us and acts accordingly.dunno confused

I think you know me well enough to know my position on this... I´m not going to be down on my knees praying when I could actually be doing something usefull...

I do believe in the power of our brains however... so much is untapped and unknown about our brains, who knows what we really are capable of... perhaps prayer is just a way of focusing thoughts and brain power to achieve what it is we desire.[/quote]

That's what I mean JB. We are given the common sense to use our brains. Sometimes we act stupid, sometimes we act smart, but whatever we do, it isn't because it was wished upon us.

It's 2:50 p.m. in New Jersey. The office is closing at 3:00 for the holiday weekend.

I'm going to pray to God that between 3:00 p.m. today and 7:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, when I come back to work, that I meet a guy in a pink shirt who has aged 10 years older rolling on the floor laughing

Abso lutely, I have dug holes for myself and just jumped in them. But when I was clawing my way out of them I was calling God with every move.

I have to admit... the whole god/satan thing just seems like a cop out to me. We are all responsible for our actions and what happens in our lives... saying it was "Gods Plan" just seems like an excuse or a way to buffer the negatives. bouquet

Of course now people are going to think I'm hittin on a young one. Not so guys. Mr. Vinny is a truly wonderful man, but we both know the limits of our relationship because of age difference and the miles between us.

So we are happy with being very special good friends.

Have to share this one with you snugs.

Sitting in the Doctor's waiting room the other day i noticed a handsome man in his early thirties sitting waiting patiently ( no pun intended). At last a woman came out - tall, perfectly made up, obvious that she had spent some time with her plastic surgeon as well - a good looking i would say sixty year old.

They left, arm in arm. She carried herself like royalty and he looked the proud partner...

Keep dreaming...

I'm supposed to be heading out the door but I heard there's a bad accident on the highway I'd be traveling on so I think I'll hand for awhile with this thread.

And then, as they were exiting the waiting room, did you happen to hear the young man say, "Okay, Mom, I've taken you to your damn doctor's appointment. Can I borrow the Beamer now?" smile

I'm giving you the benefit of doubt that you're not saying I don't have a chance with Vinny.

Of course I don't have a chance with him. I wrote the reasons why. If that is why you said "keep dreaming" why would you have the need to turn an informative and fun thread into a sarcastic comment. If you're not being sarcastic I'll apologize in advance.

Please advise what your post is about.

Sorry Ambrose....my mood has changed.

Perfect example.....is this all God's doing that I'm taking Apostrophe's comment to heart and I'm wrong. And if I'm wrong, now God has to apologize to me for hurting my feelings. What are the chances of that Wixie.
