Yes, I do if and only if the prayer is absolutely necessary for the reason at hand.
I was in another forum on another site where some used and abused the prayer request.
For example: One woman was singing on stage in a small bar that night with a live band for one song. She started a thread and asked everyone to pray for her............ridiculous. Now when she really needs God to answer her truly needed prayers will he answer those? "Pray for me I have a paper cut" holy rollers does not cut it with me. The crying wolf fable can be used for prayer use too.
Yes, but not necessarily with the answers we expect or desire.
In my opinion, prayer is not nearly so much about getting God to do what we want as it is about setting our hearts right so that whatever God does, we accept and appreciate it.
My brother was suffering with cancer. The meds. caused boils all over his body. He was at deaths door. His life had been one of suffering. He was talking to a shrink when I arrived, the only thing he wanted to do before he died was see his children he has not seen in 11 years. Oh, I prayed for him. I asked the lord to take him or give him a life worth living. He is in remission and living with his ex wife and loving his children. Yes, my prayer was answered.
Sometimes God say's YES, sometimes He say's NO, sometimes He say's WAIT. God alway's answer's, but not in our time frame or according to our will, AND WE MIGHT NOT ALWAY'S LIKE THE ANSWER.

Not necessarily ridiculous.
If she wanted prayer so that she would sing well in order to impress people, yes, that's a bit strange.
But if she wanted prayer for courage and strength to overcome stagefright, that's something entirely different.
God wants us to call on him for things, as long as our motives are good.
He won't answer prayers based on pride, selfishness, envy, hatred, greed, lust etc.
He will answer prayers based on love, forgiveness, repentence, etc.
Jas 4:3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
Mt 6:5 And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

I have some very personal reasons for believing God does answer prayers. Won't bring them out here as it will turn this into a religious controversy thread. Have been way too many of those already, which always get into very heated debates and many times pulled. No need for that for sure.
Absolutely! I pray to God each time I want something, and the fact that it never appears is obviously his way of saying that I don't need it! You've gotta hand it to the guy, he's all compassion!

It amazes me how people KNOW exactly what God will and won't do.

My unborn Grandaughters heart was growing to big so crushing her organs and my daughter in law was going to have to give birth at 5 and half months pregnant. This was the second baby they were going to loose.
I prayed for my son and his partner to be spared this lose a second time, but to no avail.
Nobody can tell me there is a God or prayers are answered, after the pain and misery they have been thro.
Sorry folks i probably shouldn't have posted, but it helps.

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your grandaughter and for the pain your son and daughter-in-law have experienced. It is easy to blame God at times like this, because we as humans see a loss like this as cruel and senseless. But, we have to remember that we see things in a much narrower perspective than God do'es. We see things on a human perspective, while God see's them on a worldly one. God has a purpose and a plan for every thing He do'es and we can not alway's see the wisdom of what He choose's to allow happen. Perhap's it is a test to see if we will continue to love Him when He allow's bad things to happen to us. He is, after all, The Creator...and He alone is worthy of our love and adoration. Some times we love what He gives us, more than we love Him. Some times, He test's us with great patience in order for us to learn to be more dependant on Him. My heart go'es out to you Morgan, in your time of grief! I'm thinking by your words, that you are grieving as much, if not more so, than your son and daughter-in-law.

I believe that God hears all prayers, while he may not answer them in the way we desire. in my life I have been through some tuff stuff, as many have, I have learned this from it. god does not give us any more than we can handle, it is not punishment, it helps us to grow as people. learning lessons in life, and to apreceate what we are given. for me the book of Job in the old testamant was a great insperation, and help. when wondering why God would make someone face the things he dose in life.
now having said that, there were many times in life that I said why me, it is human nature. and I do not want anyone to think that I am making light of thier feelings on this matter in thier life, its just my opinion, from my experiences.
