I spend a hellofalotoftime in here, 100% of my spare time at home in Spain when not working.

..Malta has it's challenges no doubt, but I have to admit, the maltese do impress me with their patience. My guess is, is that it's a result of being invaded constantly in the past, and getting used to life in crowded and trying conditions...as they say in Deutsch...."Was dich nicht umbringt, mach dich stärker.."

But Mike...it's a big place....surely you can't generalize??....but I do know that Spain's unemployment is pretty bad, and it has experienced the worst real estate crisis in the EU area...

No, it is not a bad place, and I am not suffering here, if I did I would not stay here.
There are issues in this big country, but very few reach down here in the south, except for the unemployment, which have reached 24%. But take that into the right perspective - it used to be 20% ...
People are simply not living the way we are used to, and fewer work outside the private land but all survive, in good health.
