Word sensitivity. Well like road rage......is that instant flair up when you hear words. Is the opposite of buzz word that are used in adversting, that give you warm fuzzies.
Athletes call it 'rabit ears'...where the croud talk get them out of focus and into a rage or anger. Politician it is negative ads, trying to get an opponet into a political gaff that cost him votes.
I think that much harm is caused in the world by word sensitity. Think about martial disputs......see a connection there?

I have learned to liste to tone as well. But I think that you need to put it into the situation some. E.g. a man swearing at a care wreck with injured family members there. Tone is a big key to what the person is feeling.

hi softly...I agree I can be totally joking with someone and that isnt how its takin....if i think theres the slightest chance of bein' taken wrong..j/k always follows.
flare ups? you must have us confused w/ another site
anyway i think we all have our own stuff and just like in r/l sometimes project what we think someone means onto the situation
a problem develops tho when the first someone tries to clarify and explain thru the misunderstanding yet the 'offendee' insists that they are psychic and know the real intentionand wont accept an apology or explanation
thats their choice
i think in here-just like 'out there' it takes some time to get toknow someone have a perspective on their personality
lots of folks jump-or flare as mentioned on their own hot buttons and as soon as they see or interact w/ someone new-all their old stuff colors their perception and rather than sit back and wait to see-they flare up
one thing i have learned is that so often a persons reaction to me has little to do with me but thats not to say at times it doesnt hurt a bit or touch on my old buttons
this is the risk we take if we interact w/ people people are so pesky-
perfect example? im the only one thats voted for the answer i chose
priceless
and ps-there is no 'tone' in print and many people process clarity and consistency as confrontation
boohoo i say
everything is relative and subjective to our own history and filtering process unless we really work grow and learn some discipline to have it be different
