crotalus_p: You still have not explained how you have come to the conclusion that , that piece of scripture is figurative and others are literal

No it does not , The bible is constantly contradicting it’s self

Btw As I have stated before I have a mild form of dyslexia hence why I rely on ms words spell checker , if my spelling is yor strongest point you point is very weak indeed

Now answer the question you have been avoiding

Croatalus, common sense is how I came to that conclusion, along with a knowledge of other Scriptures that present the essence of God as Spirit (John 4:24). As God is Spirit, the "image of God" spoken of in Genesis 1:25 refers to the spiritual and nonmaterial part of man, that which sets him apart from the rest of creation. If you read Bible commentaries or other studies of these texts you will understand how the use of the word image is not always to be taken in the physical sense.

If you think that all of the Bible is to be taken literally, then that is your right. It surprises me though as you often refer to Biblical scholars, but if you knew anything about Biblical scholarship, you would know that Scripture is a book of several literary forms, and scholars often interpret Scriptures in a figurative rather than literal sense.

I did not know you had dyslexia, but you were using two completely different words (interpret, interrupt) with completely different meanings. Perhaps your typing "interrupt" rather than "interpret" was a Freudian admittance to what you were doing in the thread, lol.

How do you know when referring to “Sprit” it is not meant to be taken figuratively ??? Common sense would tell us that given that there is zero proof a sprit exists now in the 21st century they con not possibly of had proof in the 1st century

calmheartseeks: If you think that all of the Bible is to be taken literally,
I never said that

Nope it is down to auto correct , and on a side not Freud is extremely out dated and currently only thought as a historical significant by most reputable collages

I think sometimes people try to buy God's love... like as if GOD were holding some kind of scorecard or something and trying to buy something that's given for free.

Good,Bad,Right,Wrong,...I THINK I'M given free will to act whichever way I CHOOSE,,,and I don't think God will love me any less, but if I want to feel good about myself...
I better try staying on the right side of the fence.

moonlove: If you answer (NO)
Why no God, please give the reasons, I want to know more...

Huh? No the question in why a God? Can you prove the existence of a supernatural all powerful, perfect, creator God? NO! And none of the writings that any religion follows even portrays sucha being.

You need to show the proof for the silly notion that anything even remotely similar to a god exists. The Human Imagination is a curious thing and the use of this imagination to create reality is even more silly.

ROFL! Do you watch the news? No god of mine would be so selective in whom it protects. What you say implies there are many gods. Naivety is all you show.

Ah I love a good debate where there are no winners and no losers and no one's mind was changed! The non-believers try harder than the believers to change opinions, but I assume they have failed every time.

I heard someone mention the other day,IF you're worried about an angry GOD,

Don't worry about GOD hating you.....you're not that important.

I KINDA LIKED that one...good lesson in breaking down the EGO a bit.

rubendario: None of us can survive without him. His very essence of love is what fuels our very soul...without him we would not exist!!

We all have a relationship with him...it's just sometimes it's good and sometimes it's not so good, but it's always there.

I also wanted to add to what I wrote;

"It's all my brothers and sisters that I am having a hard time with!" I also have a hard time with myself....sometimes loving myself is hard to do..especially when you see yourself doing the opposite of what you know you should be doing!!
That is so true ruben but thanking God for his mercy that he renews every morning and his long suffering toward us and his patience and a Love that surpasses understanding YES I Love Him and I know he loves you and me

Funny, because good God fearing people die gruesome and horrible deaths everyday. It must be hard limping through life on a crutch. I prefer the Blue Lucky Rabbits foot, what color do you have?

Grow up! Usually when we turn eight we find out that Santa, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy were lies. When are the masses going to use their reason to see that a God is on the same level?
