Im not gonna watch the footie with you LV, but be great to see you here!
Remember Semana Santa (Easter) falls at the end of March and the beginning of April. Flights and accommodation may be more expensive. However, the celebrations and street parades during that time are wonderful to see.
Yeah yeah, I know you said you aren´t looking for Spanish culture but it would be a shame for people travelling a long way to go home with Benidorm ex-pat life as their only impression of Spain.
Try to visit surrounding areas or the old town at least and meet some Spanish people....please!

Love Greece but not the question, got to find the most easy and economic route for the majority, especially as some may need to bring children who will need a bit if entertainment, Terrimitica is more useful than the Alhambra Palace in these circumstances.

There are some beautiful places with half an hours reach of Benidorm so hopefully people will be able to get around and see some of the more traditional, quieter spots...if thats what they want to do
Alicante also has the moors and christians celebrations in mid April, for someone new to Spain they are spectacular displays

Yes, a trip to Alicante is a fantastic idea. I might even come over for the day if I can.

As with all these meets everyone has a preferred venue. But, someone has to grasp the nettle, decide on a location and see if enough interest can be generated. Benidorm is perhaps not ideal, but it is practical and could work out very well indeed.

Meet you then at John Lennon Airport then and you can climb afforementioned Rock when you get there.
scousedon: Well I will give good links to all interested. For me, a place to let your hair down and feel at ease, if not then no offence taken.
Pencil my name in please Don. I'd be up for some golf but I have no idea of golf in that area or the cost, it might be extortionate, I'll look into it.
Jan wisely mentioned the Semana Santa festivities so perhaps mid or late April would be better for cheaper accommodation and flights plus it will be a bit warmer.....
scousedon: Fine then have a good holiday, some have got to think about children to take with them, see if enough want to go to Greece for romance. I just fancy Spain to meet some people for a few beers and good company. If it happens, fine and hope it does, if not then ah well then so be it. Do a poll to see who wants to go to Greece, nothing stopping two options available.
whichever how long are we talking about 3,5,7 days

Not sure about Benidorm area but great golf down Murcia I hear, La Manga, ask Costagirl about it, she would be in the know, maybe Solsticemonbeam will have a better picture nearer Benidorm.

Calpe is a very popular destination for winter climbing, offering routes of all standards. I've tried to get out there many times with various groups, but for one reason or another, never made it. I would love to have a few days climbing out there followed by a cs get together.
