I've been online more than 20 years. I watched the Net evolve from a bunch of "text" servers to the cacophony of light and sound we see today. For a research junkie like me, the instant access to information is fabulous.
When I first decided to try internet dating, I was seriously skeptical. Over the last 3 years I've discovered that internet dating is a great way to expand my circle of friends and acquaintances. And dating site forums are a supreme source of entertainment. A true glimpse into human nature.

I'm with you there doc..it is however a great way to make new friends from all over the world..for example I've just spent an hour n a half chatting to a lovely lady in australia on skype..its great we can moan about our online experiences together!

Has some great dates( and some bad ones) but have met some fantastic people along the way, who have turned out to be real friends in RL.
So no complaints from me.

Hmmmm. Well I think CS is one of the better sites around, its got lots of enticing stuff that others don't have(I've been on a few). Its great if you like meeting people from around the globe that you would not otherwise meet(Nothing wrong with that). However, if you here really just for Dating, as a DATING SITE well that can be another matter. Some here have been fortunate to have things work out and quite sucessfully at that, others meet a daily diet of scammers or just don't make a connection. There are a lot of things that have to fall into place, right person, right time. Distance, differences in culture,unrealistic expectations,dishonest persons, etc...all can work together to create disappointment. I think its just the luck of the draw just like in real life.

Agreed, Sophie. I had a really good relationship come out of internet dating before I met my late husband, but things have changed a lot since then. More sites are available, and many more people are out there. I've had some good experiences this time around as well...and some bad ones. But I have no regrets, for I've also made some really good friends that I treasure, I've learned a lot, and had a lot of entertainment along the way. And who knows what will happen in the future? I don't close doors, you never know who might walk through them.
