Well, hello there stranger!
I listen to a few different kinds, depending on my mood. I usually listen to the most current music. But I love motown, classical, and many of the others you have mentioned there. So I can't really pick one.

Alternative Music. Hard and Gothic Rock being my favorite genres with Rammstein and Sisters of Mercy being my favorite bands. But I also listen to all sorts of Rock dating back to the 60's. I also like good electronic music, not the comemrcial one that is played on the radio or in most of night clubs, but admire bands like Kraftwerk. For sure i hate pop music, rap and r&b.

A few civilizations are thousands of years old; the more I studied history, the more curious i became about their music and now thanks to many people in the various disciplines relating to cultural development we can listen to the music from hundreds of different cultures, on either restored or replica musical instruments as well as decoded musical notations for all sorts of instruments, from the stringed instruments found in ancient Egyptian tombs, to shell flutes of the South Pacific to modern Sax renditions of Harlem Nocturne, to the songs and music of many North American Indian peoples...all of it fascinating.
There is so much more than the types and choices available than the list on this post. How anyone would want to live their entire lives without hearing the rest of what our planet's peoples have sounded like is beyond me.
I prefer listening to the Baroque, Renaissance Brass Medieval period , Jazz, 50's-60's rock (not Pop) and the Delta Blues, even Zulu and Watusi singing....(no rap or 'hip-hop')

World music is a passion of mine. The more primitive the music the better for me.
I'm not one for the global melting pot when it comes to music - saddens me.

I think CaptKrash is talking about the more popular requests.....being in a band. Much as I love some jazz, I don't think it's the type of music that people would generally ask for as a request....unless you were in a jazz club of course!!
