Blues63: Actually, I have to agree with you. We are expected to do so much more these days. Whether a man or a woman. The 'catchcry' of multitasking is overused and has become a vicious stereotype. And the media actually promotes this.
I'm nice really
No doubt about it... youre TRUE BlUE aintcha... onya mate...
CrosstownTraffic: Are you sure about that!!?? She should give up her identity and become a meek mousey housewife?? and you think that is reasonable in this modern world?
You have to look at the location he is coming from......and what's wrong with being a mouse.....we eat cheese dont we....
I just saw the results of the poll and it's equal between stay at home and working...in reality that seems to be the way it is in many cases... The woman works outside the home and is still ecpected to do all the tasks a stay at home wife does.
I noticed that one man even ssid that with no kids he would like his wife to work but when kids come along he wants her to stay home.
So she's supposed to walk away from a career she may have invested a lot of time and education creating and by the time the kids are old enough for her ro go back to work her skills are obsolete and akk she can get is some mundane job...is this fair? What if her career paid more and offered better benefits than her husbands?
It's s different world than the one our parents grew up in... There doesn't seem to be any easy answers!

Blues63: Mate, I don't think that's what she meant. A lot of men are tied to manual labour which is often poorly paid in this country, however, a lot of women choose the clerical/office career which tends to pay more. Moreover, there is a prevailing negative attitude among the male demographic mentioned toward education. Women tend not to share this attitude, therefore they progress up the career ladder moreso than males. However, it is becoming extremely difficult for families to survive in our cities without a combined income. If you're single and a low wage earner, you are screwed.
Don't worry Blue, I knew what Merri was saying...... I was just seizing the opportunity to stir the pot in the name of an old friend and tradition, within your part of the world. !!

I have to agree with that. In the last organisation I worked for, a few men did get passed for promotion because of their attitude problems

This is not Socially Engineered Feminism... in fact EM, I am so opposed to Gemain Greer and her ideals of what has been imposed on us... however,, it is what it is... and I dont necessarily agree with what is.. but I can tell you darls... that my way had I had a choice in it,, would have been, instead of bringing the english ways to this colony... we should have just adopted the aboriginal nomadic dreamtime life... OH to squat and yarn, fish and muck about, walk and dream, never worry about fashion, paint and sing... now that would have been something hey?
Can we continue this convo in Beni... I'd like to get to the bottom of this... Will buy you a drink ...
chughtayejee: every healthy relationship demands these characterristics. if you ignore a single one, you fail in maintaining a cheerful life. his demand was positive and reasonable.
What about the woman, she is being ignored. The man is being unreasonable and a caveman. Get up with the times, you come to Canada and I'll show you the real world
