I would call them Sir or Miss, never their first name. In fact, I did meet several of my college teachers and I personally thanked them for the education and guidance they gave me. Would love to find my elementary school teachers. My older brother keeps in touch with his high school chemistry teacher from the 1960's. This teacher is 95 yrs old and is sharp as a tack still. My brother still addresses him as Mr. This teacher has made all the difference in my brother's life and the field of pharmaceutical reseach in labs that he went into. He always says thank you to this elderly teacher and he worships the ground so to speak that this teacher walks on. This teacher was there to guide my brother throughout high school, thoughout college and in life after our father died young. A surrogate father and an excellent mentor and friend in life.

Steve5721: Miracle....because I am 59 next month and they will all be dead by now!
I am 51 many of mine are still with us.
I just this last week happened to be by my HS Chemistry/Physics/Astronomy Teacher's house. I stopped in and thanked Mr. Harris for his teaching of these Subjects, as it was b/c of Him, I went into Electrical Engineering Applied Physics as a Technician and now to obtain my BS/MS combined and hopefully, in the future, my PHD in Physics.
He was very moved and told me I am the first of his students that followed in this path. None other has told him they were working on a degree in Physics.
He was my Favorite Teacher and I am Honoured he is still here.
He did tease me telling me it being about time I visited, them, ( Mrs. Harris was the Shool Nurse and taught Health to my Sisters' classes), looking at his watch, as I was only back home once to see teachers after I graduated in 1978.
I am so glad I stopped in and let him know that. He is still an inspiration!!!!
I neither like or loath the bad teachers , they just didn't impact me AT ALL . I would say to Miss T to go and learn how to say W and not refer to it as dubloo She was a vicious snotty lady , no doubt still trying to teach Commerce and badly at that .And banging her knuckles at imcomrehending kids all the while
I regularly bump into my some of my ex teachers sadly a lot of them are no longer with us, and call them Sister as I did then since they are still nuns.
