This question is silly. At first I didn't understand it at all because soviet union was NOT Russia. Russia was only one part of it. That's the first. The second thing is, that Soviet Union was created with force. Most of the countries were just occupied. So it's normal that we (I'm from Lithuania) wanted freedom. For example: Lithuania was a very big country in middle ages. We have our language, traditions, historical borders and etc. So we ARE not Soviet Union, but Lithuania. As it should be. US were colonies of England (and maybe some other countries, don't know history of US very well) but they wanted their own voice, freedom and they got it. USA states have no historical borders, own languages and other things that could be reason to fight for freedom. Well... At least almost all states. Hawaii is the exception and I hope that they would get their freedom some day.

Are you really of the opinion that America was not created with force?
You should ask those who are left of the proud Indian nations. G

I am always with those who have lost their freedom, but we have to face the truth: Indians had no republic, kingdom or even state. They had no legal government, or legal borders. Of course, you can say they didn't need it until all those European greedy nations came and started consuming everything that's worth consuming. But I can also set an example of our country (Lithuania) we also were pagans and had no legal borders until knights of holy cross came and started terror. It took few hundred years for us to create the biggest country of eastern Europe of that time. So... Indians chose not to unite between tribes and fight and that was their mistake... Russians, Germans, Polish also wanted us to become alcoholic nation, they were trying to forbid our language, our traditions, churches and so on. But now we still have our language, traditions, foods, songs and dances. We still have everything that identifies us as Lithuanians. And every nation in the world can have it if they just fight for it. No matter how many years it can take...
But you'd have expected it in Australia where all the dreggs of society were sent from Ireland/UK, what else did you expect... No in American where all the proper society members went.... really they should have know better

The Iroquois (pronounced /'?r?kw??/), also known as the Haudenosaunee or the "People of the Longhouse", are an indigenous people of North America. In the 16th century or earlier, the Iroquois came together in an association known today as the Iroquois League, or the "League of Peace and Power". The original Iroquois League was often known as the Five Nations, and comprised the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca nations. After the Tuscarora nation joined the League in the 18th century, the Iroquois have often been known as the Six Nations. The League is embodied in the Grand Council, an assembly of fifty hereditary sachems.
When Europeans first arrived in North America, the Iroquois were based in what is now the northeastern United States, primarily in what is referred to today as upstate New York. Presently, Iroquois live primarily in the United States and Canada.
The Iroquois League has often also been known as the Iroquois Confederacy, but some modern scholars now make a distinction between the League and the Confederacy. According to this interpretation, the Iroquois League refers to the ceremonial and cultural institution embodied in the Grand Council, while the Iroquois Confederacy was the decentralized political and diplomatic entity that emerged in response to European colonization. The League still exists, but the Confederacy was shattered by the defeat of the British and allied Iroquois nations in the American Revolutionary War.

You can help if you want. You go to consentration camps or native Indians villages, and you start a war of liberation with the USA and Canadian goverment. Even, as you say, fight for it, they will never get their land back.

In a sense many natives have taken back some that was taken away....reservations have self rule ....much like each STATE has ...they have a council and chief and pass laws governing themselves.....the res. here even crosses the border into Canada....so it is in a very small way it's own country....this is why they can have gambling within the NY State border when in fact NY State says gambling is illegal....I think NY state is dumb for this however not because we allow it ,but because they should just give it to ALL the people of NY not just the Natives
A few years back when the Natives voted on the gambling it was a small war there ...half the res. wanted it half did not.
Quebec tried to separate from Canada. They wanted a border and thier own government but still wanted to use Canada's currency and economy.. They were told that if you're gonna leave then leave but you can't just partially separate. There are still some who want this but the numbers are dwindling.
Ok, so I don't know all the history of American Indians. But who holds you from fighting your independence and land back??? There doesn't have to be a war. We had no war when we got independence. And Latvia, and Estonia had no war also. So... Who keeps Indians form not fighting enough? Yeah, they talk a lot, but I think they really don't want that independence... You have a right of speech, you have a good economy (to compare with some other occupied nations), you have democracy (well, at least it seems so)... And you really don't know who to blame. US is all about immigrants. Of course there are generations of them, but there is no one nation that occupied you. I think this is soooo different from Soviet Union....
I remember the gambling controversy, although never been in USA, i new reservations have self rule, wrongly i use consentration, but fight for the land they lost, according to one of the post, i find it ridiculous.
