Done my years or travelling and wouldn't mind getting tied down now. But wouldn't move for anything Potential. If I'd stayed with my auzzie gf we probably would have ended up moving to Australia but we didn't. If I met someone in Dublin from another country and we decided we wanted to live together then a decision would have to be made but wouldn't go anywhere to find someone or on a whim. It's too much for something that might not happen.

Dead right. I wouldn't just up and leave on a promise. If it was well into the relationship and I was certain that things stood a good chance of working out then I'd consider it but at the moment, I've got kids here and wouldn't leave them for p a potential relationship.

I'm not Irish but I moved here for a relationship (a serious one) over 8yrs ago now - it ultimately didn't work out - but I was happy here despite it not working out so I still stayed :)

I'm not that well travelled. (Outside of Europe) I would definitely consider it.
There's a real curiosity that those far off hills are greener!

I did move, but not too far from Cork to Dublin. The best decision I ever made, not purely cuz of Iano but cuz my life here is just fuller and better. I do miss my family but ya gotta strike out on your own eventually. Thinking back it was a bit of a risk and a an early risk at that but sure nothing ventured..........

Art College in Galway back in the mid-nineties. Best yrs. ever, and a wonderfull horizon opener.
...had to get used to being called a 'Jackeen' though!
delamer: So sunny Italy/Spain/France etc. would be out of the question?
*not an offer by the way! - if i could afford it, I'd be already there!)*

That's my whole thing. When I was younger I was going to go to New York and conquer the big city, apparently. Looking back, even after meeting the plank I'm crazy about, 4 and a half hours drive is about as far as I want to be from my family in the long term. Never realized I was such a homebird til I lived a bit of distance away.

Cool. I'd up-sticks at any given opportunity. Sure Spain et al, aren't that far away anymore. Plus your family might appreciate somewhere else to go.
If I ever get the cash - I'm definitely buying a place abroad.
