watersports: Just wanting to know what a formal date might mean to different types of people?
What ever am comfortable in I'll wear.. Why wear things that will make you uncomfortable but to impress people? Can't never understand why so many women do it..

A woman in N. Y.. If a man wants to take me to a opera, I will dfenetly not weat a beater tee and a pair of low riders, with pumps.
Evening wear, I have long dark (almost black) violet dress with a floral pattern in the weave and has a matching jacket.
For warm weather day time functions silvery gray silk dress I got a fantastic deal on at a place that was going out of business we wandered into on our way back east in 07. It looks like some of the 40s vintage clothing.
In winter months I'll just wear a suit no matter what time of day the party is. You have to keep warm.
englishelegance: Formal usually means Tux or Bow Tie for a male. Evening attire/long dress for women.
When I lived in the city I got invitations several times which clearly stated "Black Tie Only", so there was no guesswork. Also, many restaurants will not allow customers in if they don't like high falootin enough. Some even stock ties and jackets to "lend" during dinner. (I find snobbishness from service staff unacceptable, however). My mother attended several "Pub Lunches" in London, and described the high society, etc... at those hotels. One wouldn't want to go to The Cambridge House in their skivvies, would they?

Just for this n that, I went to your profile. Say, you're a right bonny lass! Carry yourself well, love. Are you gentry?
nanners2863: I love clothes and getting dressed up..so it would depend on where the date was taking place.
what kind of idiotic comment is that?????
ANY date worth having should take place somewhere where clothes do not need to be worn.... and the only activity that should take place is getting laid !!!!!
everything else is a waste of time and money !!!!!
