Jihadmeathello: I dunno, they may find it too evil with spirits and ghouls. My grandma on my mother's side quit attending a church since it had set up a get together with the kids to bob for apples and play kid games in costume for Halloween. I would imagine a place like you have described there will be others like that the see the holiday as blasphemous
Even in California I had a few students from families like that.... with serious objections to pagan-based holidays. Nah, there are enough Catholics here that I'm sure Halloween is a go at least for kids. Probably pretty tame for adults though..... hmmmm.... instead of a nurse or a fire fighter, maybe I'll be Mary Poppins!!
I've never lived in Knoxville, but i'm only about 35 miles from Chattanooga. So we're not that far away. And yes we do halloween. There is always a party for adults, just be sure and ask the host how provocative it can go, if provocative is your bag.

That's encouraging-- thanks! I saw that the weekend of the 16th is the annual "Brewers' Jam" here... have you ever been to that?? It sounds like fun, but I'd sure like to talk to someone who has attended one. All tickets are advance-sale.
I wish I could have mixed the choices-"-camping in the country by a sunney beach" (for years that was the only vacation I took, but it was more than enough. Wonderful memories. Next choice would be a week in Reno and the surrounding woods, trails, etc... Neat area, too.
This takes me back to May when I went on vacation and stayed in a luxury suite of a hotel on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, sipping champagne, listening to my favorite music. Walking on the boardwalk, taking in the luxury of being able to do nothing but what I wanted. Standing in the sand, stepping back when the ocean waves came closer, picking up perfect and imperfect shells, ordering room service, being totally pampered. Uh..I'll have to get back to ya on this...gotta make reservations!!!!
