Similar. We're Pagans. It was the natural religeon here before St. Patrick was meant to have driven out the snakes! There never were snakes. When he said snakes, he was referring to Pagans. And you don't have to scratch to low below the surface here to find that most of us are at heart Pagans! Even the Christian shrines were placed on top of Pagan ones.
Think of the Celtic Cross or the St Brigid's cross! There was a time when catholicism and paganism coexisted similar to Voodoo in the Carribean!
But in the 18th century Roman Catholicism which is much more radical tried to bulldoze the Paganism away.

Weddings, funerals, etc. I would attend mostly in Catholic churches and some times there are some concerts in the Cathedral and in other churches, those concerts are fantastic!
I could also attend any religious service from any religion in a respectful way.
What people believe in or not believe in, it is their business.
Myself, from a Catholic family, now more spiritual (I like to think that) than religious.

What you are saying is not a shock to me, I have heard this before and know what you are saying, and anyone who pretends they are shocked and you are driving away people from being Christians, are not Christian themselves so why are they offended?
It seems they non believers become offended when Christians say they will burn in hell, but if you believe that it is your right and duty to say it.
There is a agnostic or athiest, in the named Penn, he part of Penn and Teller, he has said if a Christian really believes it is their duty to warn non Christians of the danger of hell and not just to be lukewarm about it, so I commend you for trying in your own way to warn people about hell.

My attending has reaffirmed my belief that it's absolute nonsense, the drama, the choir and the flowing gowns as worn by the vicar............ dear Oh dear... What have I done to my son... nevermind it got himinto a great primary school....
