What do you think about this?

President Obama says that by the year 2035, 80% of American’s and many parts of the world will receive power from clean natural sources.

How do you define this? What is a clean environmental source?

1) Solar power is very clean, but expensive. It is really only possible with new housing development, rarely existing ones. With the current atmosphere of the housing market, I don’t see this going ahead soon.

2) Wind power: Windmills exist across the world to power alternative energy. These can be built and serviced from our Lakes and Oceans…and on high terrain on Earth to provide electricity. This is a good source of alternative, clean power.

3) Nuclear Energy: This is probably the best way short term; however there is always a danger of a meltdown.

Of all the above examples, I prefer Nuclear. Tests have been done with major automobile manufactures to provide a nuclear car. This is wise in a way…our computers alone have enough Radon in them to require special disposal. But how will these Nuclear Cars be disposed of safely?

It is all about the money. Big Oil Companies will not give up their profits for green energy, at least not soon. They make too much money from Oil.

Here's a novel idea:

America is sitting on top of a super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could potentially make America Energy Independent and until now has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted supply irrelevant.

In the next 30 days the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) will release a new report giving an accurate resource assessment of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana. With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil are held in this 200,000 square mile reserve that was initially discovered in 1951. The USGS did an initial study back in 1999 that estimated 400 billion recoverable barrels were present but with prices bottoming out at $10 a barrel back then the report was dismissed because of the higher cost of horizontal drilling techniques that would be needed, estimated at $20-$40 a barrel.

It was not until 2007, when EOG Resources of Texas started a frenzy when they drilled a single well in Parshal N.D. that is expected to yield 700,000 barrels of oil that real excitement and money started to flow in North Dakota. Marathon Oil is investing $1.5 billion and drilling 300 new wells in what is expected to be one of the greatest booms in Oil discovery since Oil was discovered in Saudi Arabia in 1938.

The US imported about 14 million barrels of Oil per day in 2007 , which means US consumers sent about $340 Billion Dollars over seas building palaces in Dubai and propping up unfriendly regimes around the World, if 200 billion barrels of oil at $90 a barrel are recovered in the high plains the added wealth to the US economy would be $18 Trillion Dollars which would go a long way in stabilizing the US trade deficit and could cut the cost of oil in half in the long run.

I like big cars too.

People on the green side think that humans are polluting our Earth; they don't see the side of what Mother Nature can do.

We as mankind...even with our technology...can only drill to about 1% of the Earth's crust.

Cap and Trade and Al Gore are gone. They believed in Global Warming because we use Coal and Oil. Notice how fast that topic (Disappeared) and was not been spoken again by the Obama Administration?

We just saw what mother nature can do.

In the BP gulf spill. We dumped millions of gallons of crude into the gulf daily. Let us face it....if was not the SKorean Whale Super Tanker, or the 2000 converted fishing vessel to skimmer and boom that solved the problem. Or any other man made or man deployed device that solved the problem. Including Kevin Costner's oil centrifuge pump.

It was those little oil eating microorganism that mother nature makes that solved the problem.

Yes Tom, again correct.

Most of the oil spill from the Gulf eventually settles on the Ocean bottom. Correct about microbes also.

Fishing industries in the southern USA are coming back to life again. Our Earth has a way to repair damage; with help from us...mankind.

We will never to be able to control this by green measures, we can only react as mankind.

The answer to Green Energy is at the State and City levels, not the Federal. Each Region and local levels are different from each other; all have separate needs and resources.

Each Nation is different also, in that natural resources are different. Consider each Nation as a State...then we find the answer.

Natural Gas from the ground is also considered clean. It doesn't contribute much to unhealthy environment because what is not burned off goes straight to the stratosphere; out of our way.

Yes, and not only that, how do we get rid of the batteries and toxic chemicals. Remember the environmental laws that went into effect to mandate air bags in automobiles? They are electronically fired and received by a nuclear receiver; just like some of us have in our watches.

This is a big issue in many salvage yards (un-posted by the main media) that thieves are raiding the air bags to find the nuclear component. Why?

It was mostly the fault of the Carter Administration. When the Suez Canal was blocked in 1979, it caused Oil prices to go up and long gas lines. (We are seeing this again with Egypt today)

It was promised then that America would be independent of foreign Oil. What happened was that the Big Oil Companies lobbied Congress to keep things status Quo so that they could continue to make large profits.

About 7% of the world oil is shipped through The Suez Canal. A large majority of the world electronics and grain (food) also goes through the passage way.

Yes Freddy

If I had an oil rig in my yard, I would do the same.

My Mother's side of my family is located in Opelousas, Louisiana. On my visits to see them over the years, many families have oil wells on their properties. No pollution that I could see. They sell the oil to refineries and receive refined gasoline.

People use far too much energy these days than they need, in some cases to a grotesque level.. e.g. V8 engines when a smaller one would do. People only had horses once and still could survive. Don't forget the greenhouse effect of burning all that oil.

Gasses from Cows and Horses emit to the atmosphere...other animals too. We do as Human Beings also.

It filters to the higher atmosphere of our Planet, and comes down again for us to breathe. These CO2 gasses cannot escape into outer space. They come back down to Earth, where they are absorbed when we again breathe them or absorbed back into the dirt we grow our plants in.

This is exclusively my idea about heating homes without the use of power. The Ukraine (Russia) is now building a prototype.

If you go outside on a nice sunny day, you have your car sitting there along with a tree nearby. (Heat transfer)

Go touch your car; it is most likely made of metal. It is hot because metal is a conductor. Go touch your tree made of wood.

Wood is not a conductor at all. It is cool to the touch.

Plastic and porcelain are also not conductors...That are why Electricity Companies use these; to protect us from shock.

The Sun provides heat to the Earth by convection. Warm air like the Sun always flows to cool air or objects like our Earth.

This is my idea:

Depending on whether you live in the Southern Hemisphere or Northern, one wall will face the Sun and the opposite will not. Since heat flows from warm to cool, make the hot wall as the conductor and the cold wall as the receiver.

This can be done if the right materials are used in each wall.

This would be a brand new heating and cooling system for the World, electricity free.

This new unit would be close-by or attached to the house on the warm side where it can catch the rays of the Sun.

It would be enclosed in a glass or Plexiglas case to receive maximum protection from our environment and oxygen contaminants.

Fans...run on the flow of air. The blades of the fan can be engineered to turn without power to turn the airflow to the cold wall. This would heat the house as it flows also.

Electronic devises are also available that require no power to check the system.

My first prototype worked when I built it in 2003. Since I used leaves and animal droppings as a fuel, I discovered a new theory. What I did was take 55 gallon steel barrels filled with water and placed them positioned toward the Sun. I only filled them 2/3 of the way up because of the expansion of water because of pressure and included pressure relief valves.

It worked. The water drums ran at about 180 degrees. I even grew plants in their on a very cold winter days.

Idiot

We breathe out Carbon Dioxide in all Mammals including Human Beings. Plants and trees take the monoxide at night and produce Oxygen for us.

A study was done in the 70's about plants.

They put censors on them and found that they have feelings.

First, they sent a person into the control room that wanted to harm the plants. The sensors’ and the plants freaked out and went wild.

Another person was sent into the control room that was kind to the plants and talked to them. Censors were stable.

Trees and Plants, even grass is a higher form of life than what we are; they have been around much longer than us.

The two processes you're referring to are respiration (in animals) and photosynthesis (in plants).

Plants use carbon dioxide, not monoxide, and convert it to sugars with energy from the sun, to use as food.

Read up on it, it's quite interesting.
