the oil and gas industry controls 41.2 million acres of federal onshore lands but has drilling operations on just 12.2 million acres. The new data indicates that the BLM issued more than 4,000 drilling permits last year, but the industry drilled only 1,480 new wells, the group says.
"There is no shortage of leased federal lands or permits to drill for the oil and gas industry," TWS said in a statement. "Congress does not need to weaken federal environmental laws to encourage more drilling on our federal lands and waters."
It's still Bush's fault that oil prices are high. He probably caused the Tsunami in Japan, too. He's both evil genius and complete idiot according to the knuckleheads that never got over the fact that Gore lost the election in 2000.
I jumped the gun on a previous post I made about Brazil. As a Journalist, I need to have 3 sources of information. I jumped on the first one. (No drilling from Brazil in the Gulf)
The deal with Brazil is to have the largest oil reserve in the Gulf of Mexico in history from Brazilian oil to feed the US.
I don't disagree with this idea. But what I do disagree with is that the US is already dependant on the Middle East for some of our oil.
Are we moving toward dependency now in South America?
Drill Baby Drill in the US is the best answer for the USA to be independent of foreign oil.

In regards to USA and independent of foreign oil we need to convince our leaders of that.

The US cannot drill its way out of energy dependence
How can it be Liberal Propaganda, it's from the UK? Anyway, It's good that we have this Bakken field but I would rather see people conserve our natural resources instead of burning it up with reckless abandon. BTW I heard an encouraging stat the other day. In 2009 SUV & light trucks represented 65% of sales, in 2010 it dropped to 40%. Small, light, fuel efficient cars are making a big come back. Maybe we environmentalists are finally getting through to people. Or maybe they just can't afford to fuel those big gas guzzlers without a job.
