President Trump? Is the“Donald” preparing a run for the White HousePosted by admin On April - 12 - 2011 0 Comment

It’s true. Real estate tycoon, Donald Trump, plans to compete as a GOP contender for the upcoming presidential election in 2012. His executive decision to contend against our current Democratic incumbent, Barack Obama, will be made in June.

Trump expresses his seriousness, rejecting such claims that his decision to run for president is a mere publicity stunt or an attempt to boost ratings for his NBC reality show, “Celebrity Apprentice.”

“The ratings on the show are through the roof. I don’t need to boost the ratings,” Trump stated during an interview with The Associated Press. “But the country is doing so badly. I wish there was someone in the Republican field because that’s what we need right now.”

However, Trump is not the only entrepreneurial hot shot that has sought out the White House, nor is this his first time. Following the path of tech mogul Ross Perot in 1992 and publishing executive Steve Forbes in 1996, Trump considered presidential campaigns in 1988 and 2000 but never did run. Even Michael Bloomberg, billionaire New York City mayor, has revealed his national political interest. However, unlike these wealthy figureheads, Trump means business. That is, Trump plans on using his vast knowledge in business to actually apply it to an official 2012 presidential campaign.

“Part of the beauty of me is that I’m very rich,” he told ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

Trump bolsters his vain statement, claiming that he is prepared to spend as much as $600 million of his own fortune to set up a campaign. Trump has taken steps to demonstrate his political ambitions as he delivered a reputable speech to the Conservative Political Action Committee conference in Washington last month and has arranged a trip to leadoff primary state New Hampshire to advocate for his possible campaign this June.

Despite Trump’s efforts, his notoriety and his minimal political experience will hinder his chance of devising a successful campaign. Some question the extend of Trump’s qualifications,

Political Science Professor, Heidi Swarts, has this much to say, “A marginal history of celebrity support has seeped through the political realm…Regan, Schwarzenegger, Ventura…but when it comes down to it, Americans want someone with serious credentials.”

“Trump considers himself self-made, but his success was a product of circumstance,” said Waleed Abbasi, political science and economics major, when asked about Trump’s political influence. “One would say that his financials are where his credentials begin and end.”

An analytical review of Trump’s political experience would be scarce, however, when it comes to the general public. Voters base their decision on more than just an impressive political resume.

“A potential Trump candidacy for president may be laughable to many on a university campus, but to the voting constituency at large, name ID still carries significant weight – as does charisma. Even if done subconsciously, average voters often reach their decision by asking, “does this candidate look and act presidential?” Who said this quote here? I can’t tell if it is her opinion or a source.

“Trump might very well appeal to those with lingering unease over the economy, which is still recovering from a financial meltdown that originated in the U.S. housing market,” said Thomas Arndt, teaching assistant for the Division of Global Affairs.

Trump’s decision to run for the 2012 presidential elections will ultimately sway the outcome of the Republican primary races. However, freshman, Elvin Perez’s said, “Well, he sure beats Sarah Palin.”

Yes, yes, yes.

Where are you Ivana? I think she ran some of the hotels in Atlantic city.

I don't even think his business dealings were all done without cheating and taking advantage of some loopholes. If he made money off China, how did he do it? and would he allow the US to go bankrupt too as a president?

If I could take advantage of a legal "loophole", I'd sure as hell do it.

The US is already bankrupt, I don't think you can elevate it to bankrupt2 dunno

Don't personally care for him in general, but at least he's talking about issues. I think the jury is out...

I would venture to guess that the White House is more afraid of Trump than any other Republican candidate. I'm sure Democrat smear merchants will dig up whatever is out there (as dude has suggested).

will he ask China to write off US debt to China?

That or an offsetting 25% tariff against unfair trade practices perhaps?

OBTW, he has probably studied middle class American enough to know, for example that middle class Americans like to gamble.

Don't you think his business enemies have already done their best to throw dhit on his shoes?

geneva60: Again, I repeat,

Being successful running a business is NOT the same as running a country especially one such as the USA.
even if the US owes China and what has that got to do with running the country USA successfully??????

What it has to do with it is one aspect in which he has a solution compared to the non solutions posed by others.

And please, what experience did Obama have when the main focus of the presidential campaign was the economy? He has flip flopped on every policy he campaigned on and tripled the debt. I would say you need somebody who knows about making money rather than a community organizer who only knows how to spend it.

This is the reason why we need someone with some experience running a government.

leigh2154: Well Al, you are certainly entitled to your opinion...I don't like Obama either...Donald Trump for president...a joke IMO.......no experience....just what we need here, Corporate America at the helm...we have enough corrupt politicians already.........

Actually I'm just stating what I know and have yet to post an opinion.

A joke is what you have in place now. Community organizer that voted present most of the time, spends like a drunken sailor and has divided your country in half while breaking just about every campaign promise he made by simply carrying on with his predecessors policies. The ones he vowed to change - even providing time lines for that change in some cases.

As for corporate America, please explain how Trump, a private developer is considered to be 'corporate America.'

leigh2154: like I said, no experience

Yes, Bush or Palin would be nice but, Trump would still have it hands down on Obama in that department.

Please explain how it is different. And, what is better, a community organizer who hands out money (a job anybody can do) or a guy who knows how to make money, deals, negotiate, make concessions or, a woman who was the most popular Governor in America.

How is it different? You have various department heads that report to you, make decisions based on information provided, ensure you manage the departments properly and that the right people are in the right place at the right time with the right assets and, negotiate with other entities using the information provided to successfully achieve the goal set forth by your mandate.

So, how is it different?

Alberta.....why do you use Obama as an argument with me with respect to Trump?..I have made no secret about how I feel about Obama...I think he is the worst President in our history and by a long shot and including Carter...how I feel about Obama, however, has no bearing on how I feel about Trump....the two are totally separate issues for me...Obama's failures do not qualify Trump...I don't want to see either man in office....doh If you want to talk about Trump, talk about him...leave Obama for Dude's thread.....

I stand corrected...Trump is a Casino owner who makes his living from gambling winnings taken from the pocket of middle America in order to line his and add to his 2 billion plus "net" worth and he is also a real estate tycoon who got his start in business curtesy of his daddy...is that better...bouquet

Well for one thing, government makes no profit....government produces nothing....Government is not about management, marketing, and the bottom line....Government does not sell it's services for profit to see how big it can grow...

Government is created "by the people"...

Business can cut jobs, government can't fire the homeless or lay off the elderly......
