While Obama has ordered that photos of bin Laden's body be kept from public view, members of the House and Senate Intelligence and Armed Services committees have been making appointments at CIA headquarters to view the graphic images.

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., a Senate Armed Services Committee member, said he spent nearly an hour Wednesday looking over more than a dozen photos taken at the Pakistan compound the night bin Laden was killed and on board the U.S. Navy ship that buried his body at sea.

One of the photos was of bin Laden's head and showed what appeared to be a fatal wound, according to Inhofe.

Some lawmakers had no interest in seeing the photos. Said Rep. John Garamendi, D-Calif., a member of House Armed Services Committee, "I'm quite satisfied Osama bin Laden is dead."

They did hand him over so they did tests , computor wise of the countinance of his face of his head and DNA. It was the muslims that told them that was where to bury him ,because of their customs, and he had to be buried within 24 hours. The navy/ USA obliged.

I'd use it to fertilise a tree at Ground Zero. Something for the dogs to relieve themselves on.

thumbs up I give the U.S.Navy a thumbs up. Cause I imagine all the tiger sharks and bull sharks were out C R U Z I N G, just shooting the breeze in a group of 18 to 30, talking about which island or which shore they were going to "R A C E...TO" for their next " HAPPY MEAL " when one of them detected a drop of blood in the water. And they all looked at each other and said "hay dude lets go CHECK IT OUT." cheers

Paldi5: Obama is running for a 2nd term so he called the seals and instructed them to go and take out OBL now, rather than wait until after the election in 2012?

Obama is like a terrorist because he takes credit for killing Osama? What would George Bush do differently? Not take credit?
dancing I'am glad they did it that way cause I think George Bush would have brought him back here, in N.Y. to have on trial. (you KNOW how LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG it takes to get the lawyers, the jury and all the other crap they have to have. We'd have visitors from everywhere, too many media and news people ALL....OVER.....THE PLACE!

Really doesn't matter what you think!laugh

But there was one constant in the search for bin Laden. On September 17, 2001, six days after the 9/11 attacks, President George W. Bush issued a still-classified "finding" that gave the CIA "lethal authorities" to deal with the al Qaeda leader and his top lieutenants. Ever since, there was an expectation -- even a preference -- that bin Laden would be killed, not captured, Bush and Obama administration officials said.

The same day that Bush signed the directive, he publicly declared bin Laden was wanted "dead or alive."

Numerous officials said they knew of no explicit command that bin Laden was not to be taken alive. When he ordered the SEAL raid, Obama had on his desk a written protocol for what would happen if the al Qaeda chief were captured and removed from Pakistan to an unnamed U.S. military installation, the senior White House official said.

But it was vaguer than the rest of the operational plan, and the expectation among most of the people who planned and executed the mission was that bin Laden would be killed. If bin Laden had surrendered, Obama's senior advisers "would have to reconvene and make a decision about what to do with him," said one official, who like many requested anonymity to discuss sensitive national security matters. "It was intentionally left to be decided after the fact."

Bush's September 17, 2001, order, which is still highly classified, authorized the CIA to use all methods at its disposal -- explicitly including deadly force -- to wipe out al Qaeda and its leaders.

Actully Gitmo was set up to take care of all this stuff and Obama was the one who wanted to change it to civilian trial. That has it's merits though as once in legal custody and having been read his rights, he is handed a quarter and given one phone call.

Using the Patriot Act which Bush set up and Obama has kept (like all of Bush's policies) the entire terrorist organization known as Al Qaeda can be traced through that one call.

See, there is a method to the madness that is what Obama wanted to do.
