mastic55: Ted Kennedy left a girl to die, and reported it the next day....maybe God is showing him how it feels to loose a breath.
hmmm judge jury and executioner? none of know the absolute facts of that story...i'm not defending him or anyone, but I'm not going to play God, ever...
hmmm judge jury and executioner? none of know the absolute facts of that story...i'm not defending him or anyone, but I'm not going to play God, ever...[/quot On television Kennedy later said he was not driving under the influence of alcohol. This has been widely disputed by many reports.[citation needed] He explained he was in a state of shock when he emerged from the creek and confused by "a jumble of emotions," and that his conduct in not reporting the accident was "inexcusable." He said he gave up hope and remembers little of how he got back to his hotel in Edgartown, except that he swam the narrow channel because there were no night ferries, and nearly drowned in the process.
Kennedy pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury. He received a two month suspended sentence and one year probation. Questions remain about his attempts to save Kopechne and the possibility of interference in the investigation and the trial by his family and friends. Kopechne's death severely damaged Kennedy's reputation and is regarded as a major reason that he was never able to mount a successful campaign for President of the United States.
A funeral for Kopechne was held on July 22, 1969, at St. Vincent's Roman Catholic Church in Plymouth, Pennsylvania, attended by Kennedy. She is buried in the parish cemetery on the side of Larksville Mountain.(Nice Guy)

Everyday in Iraq hundreds of innocent lives are being taken, American and Iraqi's by the orders of a delusional alcoholic. Once an alcoholic always an alcoholic.

my point is only i am not judge, jury, and executioner--his behavior was inexcusable--but he is not necessarily guilty of murder---manslaughter at max, according to most laws, if we were to judge him...and i won't as i don't have the facts---taking pleasure in his suffereing and probable death is sickening...

Well, about Teddy, Karma is a powerful thing, learn from the lessons of others, I have seen Karma in action, I believe in it and try to live by the Golden Rule...
I would think that, if one believes in karma, one would believe that taking pleasure in someone else's suffering would create bad karma for oneself. No? Think about it.
RobbieM: I'm pretty sure if he hadn't had family name he has he would have found himself on the inside of a prison cell for the rest of his days.
Again, this has nothing to do with the topic of the thread. This thread ridicules and seems to take delight in someone's illness and probable demise. Going back over whether or not Kennedy should have spent time in jail is another issue. Also, why do we think it is okay to try someone though the media? The media is, apparently, only to be trusted when it supports what one wants to believe.
It is statiscally correct that rich people do not suffer the penalties of the law as heavily as the poor, but, again, that is another issue.

Portiea: Well, I think it is pretty clear that the title of the thread and the poll are both meant as a joke and meant to ridicule his illness....it is fairly disingenious of anyone to pretent otherwise...don't you think?
Well, its pretty clear its a joke aimed at Ted Kennedy's well known drinking habbits.
Personally i dont think the man was fit to hold public office, and only managed to get into this position because of the family name.
Maybe the man has made up for his mistakes privately? Maybe he regrets his actions and behaviour but as i am not in a position to know as i have no private relationship with the man i am not in a position to comment.
I think its better to stick to facts that are in the public domain, and debate them rather than defending a man who we dont even know. After all, we don't actually know the full story of events that Mr Kennedy managed to stay out of regarding the death of that one woman.
