Do you refer specifically to the latter-day creation known as Wicca, or to traditional British witchcraft, or to the occult in general? I am a Wodanist, the fundamentals of which are the same as traditional witchcraft.

Quote: "Is there a difference between parapsychology, metapsychology and ooccultism?
Yes, there is a huge difference between these three things, although they are =all= interrelated, and also components of what is generally termed “paranormal phenomena”.
Just so we’re on the same page with it, the term “paranormal” refers to anything that appears to be outside or beyond the scope of the usual, known, or expected. (IMO, the word “normal” is a misnomer because there really isn’t any such thing except as a statistical or perceptual average — nevertheless, it’s the best word we’ve got to describe what we mean.)
“Parapsychology” is a specific branch of psychology that deals with the study and investigation of evidence pertaining to psychic phenomena, such as extrasensory perception (ESP), telepathy, clairvoyance, psychokinesis, communications with alternate or spirit realms, and similar psychological phenomena and manifestations that are (currently) inexplicable by science.
“Metapsychology” is the science of formulating systematic theory and speculative thought dealing with aspects of the mind that cannot be evaluated on the basis of objective evidence because the concepts extend beyond the limits of psychology as an empirical science. Some examples of this include, among other things, the effects of mass consciousness experiments, prayer and meditation, and the manifestation of “intent” and/or strength of will.
“Occultism”, and it’s root word “Occult”, is something that many people misunderstand and often interpret wrongly. The term “occult” simply refers to things that are mysterious, secret, hidden, or undetectable; taken as a whole, it also refers to supernatural powers or agencies. “Occultism” has two meanings that are, again, often confused and frequently misconceived — in general, it is the study of the supernatural — but it also refers to a =belief= in both supernatural powers and in the possibility of bringing them under human control." I don`t need to Google it. I know what it is.
I`m a witch. Undeniably. My mother had the "gift", and my grand-daughter has it. In my family it runs by the shape of the small fingers, and when they grow up they find they have these "abilities". We read minds. We are telepathic. We have a "medicinal" gift as well, an instinct about treating illnesses. Very interesting.
My mother spent her entire life believing that everyone saw auras. Only when she was about 75yrs old did she discover that it was only her who saw them - quite funny actually. We all thought she was rather nutty when she`d speak about the aura of certain people. And she was always right in her assessments of their intentions.

Smoky..When pagans, wiccans (or whatever word people want to use) say their prayers, preform incantations etc..Is it better to do them on a waxing/waning or full moon...?

Now boy, yo`s bein`facetious, and all now aint yo?
If you sit outside, with a pure and innocent heart, full of love and sincere intentions, and speak your mind, in all honesty, then you will be heard.
The moon goes round, the earth goes round, and you go round, and so does everyone else.
We see but darkly - when there is light all around us. But we only see what we want to see. And we only hear what we want to hear.
We have the power to transform our lives. But we don`t use it.
It has been mostly lost. And what has not been lost - is snickered at.

I can't comment on the phases of the moon in the above context, but it seems to be an interesting enough question, given that the moon does figure in many natural events, such as with timing of menstrual cycles (where no contraceptive is involved) the tides, farmers planting at certain phases and avoiding others, and so on.(oh, and always pub brawls on full moon!!)

Smoky, I always felt you could read my language.
I was still in my diapers, yet always felt there was more. Growing up, always feeling *different*. Many read-your-mind or sensing-who's-going-to-call/visit. Always feeling there is so much more.
Can be scary, and sometimes isolating. But it's what it is.
I don't label myself with any particular tags. I just feel like a very old soul, and a misplaced oddball. Not always a good feeling.
I started reading this thread and not really relating to it.
I have what very loosely, I would call intuition about people. Can't really name it or nail it but it is there. Many times I fight it because I do not want to become a fatalist, (and I am not one).
The thing is that it is not always about negative feelings. Sometimes it is also very positive. It is not always about people only; it is also about actions or happenings.
In any case, when I have negative feelings about someone that I care for, I end up cursing the thought I am going to be right. And it is very scary and isolating like you say.
In fact, your last two lines prompted me to write my bit as I could identify myself with what you wrote.
You were doing so well up to now, why mess it up with reading?
Years ago (about 20), I started to read about the orgins of christianity/catholism and found out they are based on pagan beliefs and it made sense, since then my inquistive nature led me to read more and find out more. Then I stumbled on to the Sumerian's and UFO's...Basically the more I read the more I am conviced that what they called 'Gods' we call aliens.

I don`t label myself either. I read a lot, and delve a lot, and what I find interesting and workable - I use.
Religion? I love it when someone asks "What religion are you?".....Cause then I have to ask them "How much time have you got to listen to all my beliefs?" Mainly .... I`m religious about washing my hair, brushing my teeth, and showering, and mending my clothes, and eating healthy stuff ........ and being honest, and helping others, and whatever else makes me feel good
Ja, it is VERY interesting to find that one`s intuition tells you people`s REAL intentions!
When negative feelings come about something - I have found that what works is to just state the positive. Negative feelings about occurences are "warnings". So ..... like when one has a hold-up with a trip, or can`t manage something ...... it is actually to avoid that negative that would have happened. Makes sense?
A perfect example: I once had to make a 2 hour trip. My car had THREE punctures! Massive hold-ups .... having to buy a second hand tyre eventually to replace the last holed one ..... and the entire trip took me NINE HOURS! There had been a massive auto accident involving a run-away bus that ploughed into 5 cars going in my direction. I do believe all my hold-ups were to prevent me being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
