Mayhow. Lets assume your coup happenned tomorrow and your two favourite 'junksters' were deposed. Who would you like to replace them? Do you believe you have any good political candidates who are not corrupt and could do a good job for the country and its people?
Its fine to be critical of those in power but its more helpful to have a constructive suggestion which might improve things if you had the luxury of change.
I would try to react very carefully and with sensitivity. It is a critical moment and she has demonstrated considerable courage to come out and say it especially if I had given her no signals that I had felt the same.
If I had feelings for her also, yay! no problems. Everybody happy. If not, I would need to be very tactful not to disappoint her too much as it would probably be that I would really like to maintain her friendship and I don't want her to feel down just because we didn't share the same level of affection.
Quite right Shay. That's what personal growth is all about and it is why I always tell my daughters to try the really tough things. Things they think they can never do. It doesn't matter if you fail. In fact failure is much more valuable than success.
I used to be one of those people who succeeded at everything because I had a fear of failure. Then one day, I made the mother of all mistakes and it seemed horrendous but it sort of freed me somehow and I haven't looked back since.
hmmm...not really. I am still basically friendless here. I don't get to go out anywhere and wouldn't know where to go if I did. So I mostly just stay in my hotel room and blog like a fool on CS!
I suppose I mean that I try not to be conventional and I think its fair to say that its working! Not in a bad way, just don't really want to be like everyone else too much.
Well its probably a bit easier for Minzy to look on the bright side. Myanmar is about to receive a democratic boost with its woman of the hour. I don't think China is going to have one of those anytime soon.
Please stay Sugarbum. There is nothing wrong with your name and your pictures are lovely just, I am sure, as you are. Just to see your pic here makes me feel better.
I guess its very easy for Chinese politicians to pedle fiction out to the public when the Chinese media is simply an extension of the CCP and continuously towing the party line.
Nice to see you back Mayhow. I was worried about you.
SB can you take your caps lock off. It sounds like you are shouting whilst making unfounded allegations. Or has your paranoia bled all over the keyboard and stuck the caps lock on? Do you even know where the caps lock key is?
Alea iacta est ("The die has been cast") is a Latin phrase attributed to Julius Caesar on January 10, 49 BC as he led his army across the River Rubicon in Northern Italy. With this step, he entered Italy at the head of his army in defiance and began his long civil war against Pompey and the Optimates. The phrase is still used today to mean that events have passed a point of no return, that something inevitable will happen.
I don't think it is reasonable to suggest that the Dalai Lama abandanned Tibet or Tibettans. I am certain that that is where he would have preferred to be but he was exiled. Had he stayed he would have been imprisoned by the Chinese all these years.
Also, the Chinese are not Arabs. To imagine that what occured in the Middle East will happen in China is probably just wishful thinking. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see it but the Party administration in China has a brutal record of dealing with dissident voices and if it there were similar protest activity in Beijing, for example, I predict that there would be rather alot of bloodshed.
I truly hope his Graciousness the Dalai Lama lives to see the day that his native homeland is freed from foriegn tyranny. Alas, I too believe that is very unlikely that China will give independance to any of the occupied territories it claims. It does not have a positive history in this regard.
Without wanting to sound flippant, China reminds me of a petulent child not wanting to share it's toys.
I find people are so confused with their ideas about patriotism, nationalism, flag-waving, political idealogies and indoctrination. People who believe that their country is better than other countries and that their flag deserves more respect than anyone else's are just living an illusion. It is becoming a reality more than ever that it is one world and we are really all just global citizens.
I have lived and worked abroad for the last 12 years and I meet so many people who do not live where they were born that some days it seems that the whole world is not at home. Of course we all come from somewhere but I believe that these days, people are far less xenophobic and far more culturally accepting than ever before.
Dear Sweet. People just love to perpetuate rumours about me too. I have learned to live with it. In fact now I kind of revel in it. The way I see it, its better to be talked about than not and if people are inclined to spend their time gossiping about you, well, you must be a pretty interesting person and it is really just a reflection of their jealousy surrounding your intersting life.
I'll have you know that as someone who has been tackled by Bobby Skinstad, I confirm - South African's are in no way in touch with their sensitive sides...
