lind Yes...our freedom maybe at stake...freedom of speech is such a vital commodity of people of this continent that we take for granted...others do not have this freedom...it is sad that propaganda is utilized to control ordinary citizens of the world...they may never know what it is like to be free from tyranny...my point is that we don't fuel the fire of the extremists or governments to achieve their control of the people...on the other hand, how can we not react to the viciousness displayed?...
lind Interesting way of viewing the actions of a country...to sit back and be neutral which in turn helps the oppressor...I don't necessarily agree with this idea...to me it is the lack of transparency in which countries invade another's territory that allows the extremists to be popular with the masses...it is the involvement of orchestrating the country's political outcome that angers the people...Ron Paul has never agreed with the US involvement in the middle east...certainly a maverick in the Republican Party but he makes a lot of sense.
I think it may be too late to opt out of the conflict in Syria...but what choice does the Syrian people have...a leader who is known to torture its people and to silence their voice?...or extremists who may challenge the West and may also do harm to Syrians with their ideologies?...thinking about Iran and how their revolution played out for its people...

jim Last night watched the destruction of the twin towers but also witnessed 2 brave men who saved many lives by showing them a way to safety...these 2 men lost their lives as a result...what bravery and the many of the rescued people, paid it forward as a result...

iota I was in Vietnam not to long ago for a visit and read about the horrors due to the regime...the war involved not just the Americans such like today in the Middle East...We all have to step back!!...My view on Israel may not appeal to everyone...not talking about the faith just in case someone gets angry!!...many private deals were made without its citizens' approval...that is my point...average people are not to blame here...it is the ruling class...divide and conquer keeps us from seeing the light of day...not to mention keeping us ignorant!!

gentle I have watched hours of his speeches and wonder why he is so over looked...common sense is what I feel he is to the core...despite the conservatism in his choice to run...his views do resonate with all walks of life...not sure where he stands on other topics of debate but he also wants to decriminalise some drugs that are illegal which is a very liberal thing to do...as far as a Canadian perspective goes...taking the drug lords out of the picture...and enabling the citizens to make their own mistakes and choices for that matter...
dchar Your introduction on why you posed the question would have helped...it reads wrong as it is...but regardless, you have cleared it up...about being an RN...I don't think I would recommend this field...or at least where I work...heavy work load and the assignment is usually quite exhausting and breaks are nearly impossible...but I have enough years to venture out of bedside nursing and do other things related to the field...what are your plans?...
nice I don't think every act should be called terrorism...and I don't equate Muslims with terrorism...however to combat the unjust acts against rulers...look at Syria...is it worth involving ourselves to increase the hatred of the common people of the Middle East...the Americans have failed in their attempts to try to create a calmer society in the middle east...some may say it is for Americans gain...well it might be both!!...lets face it, it may be better for all for Americans to back out and let the chips fall where it may...now it is time for the Americans to look after themselves...no more under the table deals with arms...and look at other options if oil is truly their goal in the first place as some may think...

Conrad Did you know that Michael Moore and the governor I am speaking about actually are very similar in their ideas but it is the difference in what Capitalism means to Mr. Moore and Dr. Paul...infrastructure according to Paul needs to be looked at and that capitalism is not the problem...I do understand that Mr. Moore is concerned about their healthcare system and who can afford this present way of doing business... Take the lobbyists out of the loop and big pharmaceutical companies, it may be cheaper to run...we now have medical tourism in our midst, due to high cost of healthcare procedures in the USA and Canada...
platan I have been catching up on the American news and its problems with unemployment, inflation and the crisis of the banking system...capitalism works but the infrastructure needs to change...according to Dr. Paul a governor in the US who happens to be Republican...too much government control hurts free trade and in turn increases the price of products...He happens to think it would be best for the US to stay out of the countries in the middle east and take care of his own country men/women and solve the economic crisis...I think that would be good move...I don't think the USA is innocent in all its endeavors regarding their missions in the middle east but that's the government, not the people of the US which is surprisingly similar in regards of the powers that be in the middle east...ordinary people across the North Americas and places in the middle east are suffering the consequences of rulers/governments...feeding the hatred of America and its allies is just what rulers want...the power to control the masses...propaganda comes from all sides not just here in the Americas...
