One of the factors, parents have less kids now therefore kids get 'better' food? Also, not many siblings to fight food over?
Oh! Most moms are working nowadays so too tired to cook at end of the day. Takeaways or fast food seem to be the solution. The easy solution...
Lack of exercise. When we were small, always go out and play unlike kids nowadays ( mine included ) stuck at home with their laptops ( yup, mine too! ) and game consoles. But then, it's no longer safe to let kids linger outside like how it used to be...just not safe anymore, sadly..
I've made a few friends here and I hope to be able to meet them in person one day
I had lunch with an Iraqi woman about a week ago. She has come to join her husband who's doing his Ph.D in a university nearby. They have been here since September last year and are loving every minute of their time here ( Who wouldn't? Malaysia is a food haven! )
Now, I casually asked her if she would go back to Iraq when her husband finishes his course here. The answer? "If it's possible, NO." I then probed further, "Is it really THAT bad?"
Without hesitation, she replied, "Yes, it is THAT bad. A lot of my close relatives have managed to escape and I really pity those who are still trapped there..."
She might be just lying or exaggerating, I dunno......
Anyway, here's a pic of our recent Chinese New Year get-together luncheon.
She really struggled with that pair of chopsticks. Hopefully by next Chinese New Year, she would improve She's the one on the extreme left.
P.S I'm the one right in the middle, just in case anybody asked
The father of my kids felt the same as you are now when he left his job as a chef at The Raffes Hotel, Singapore in 1998 after working there for slightly more than 10 years.
It sure was a surreal feeling and an emotional one too. However, it was a good thing he left for greener pasture coz it wouldn't do his career any good should he remained.
I remember you saying that you'd be spending more time with your aging parents. Well, I hope you enjoy your time with them, Posti
