or even the Easter Bunny, it really does not matter, some are fortunate, and most, in this world, are not. All according to the auspices of an indifferent Universe....
This is not to say that there is a God (necessarily). We are animate matter, but so is, (as I said), an animal. Also, there is (most likely) other animate matter (lifeforms) out there, in the Vast Universe
I believe we have an "identity", but so does an animal. In (some) people, this Identity is of a higher order than an animal (say an intelligent dog); in others, it is not.....
robplum, Yes it is the gentleness, diplomacy, and subtleness, of the Chinese, which makes them the popular darlings, that they are, in the world, today...
Also, the number of Adherents, of each religion, bears no relation to the possible truth of any (particular) belief system. That is to say, that just because a certain religion is popular, this does not make it any more "correct", It just means that that (particular) religion has more Adherents (a subtle truth here, which I must, none the less, elucidate)...
serene, also don't pick at my occasional typos. This does not prove anything, other than your pettiness. Can you refute my logic here? (somehow, I doubt it). Now exactly who is out of their depth here?
Thank you all, for your comments, so far. Now I could draw up an extensive list of all of the World's religions (with belief in a God, or God/s), and the TOTAL would be well in EXCESS of 100, DIFFERENT Faiths.
Now there are only TWO possibilities here: Firstly: none of the Religions are correct. OR (at best) only ONE of the Individual Faiths can be correct (according to the absolute dogma of their individual belief systems). Accordingly, each Faith has only a 1% chance (at best) of being correct. Naturally, adherents, of each different religion, will jump up and down, excitedly, saying: "My Faith is the Only True One". For reasons just explained; however, each individual Faith has (at best), only a 1% chance of being correct. Now, can you see where Atheists are coming from?
It is these differences of opinion between different belief systems (religions); which is the cause of much of the trouble, in our World today.
btw, As upsetting as it may be to some on here, Aeetheists have exactly as much right, as anybody else, here, to express their opinions.
From my perspective, I consider it to be vanishingly unlikely that there is any such onipotent Being (so called). When one considers the vast scope of the Universe, then it becomes virtually certain that there is not anything out there that cares about us in any way. The Universe (as such) would appear completely indifferent to out Existence, one way, or another. To put things in perspective, if the Milky Way galaxy was reduced to the size of a grain of sand, then the (known) Universe would be at least as big as a large cathedral. What would the Earth be (within this grain of sand)? To answer the question, the Earth would be less that a miniscule speck of dust. It becomes absurd to seriously suggest that firstly: We are the only life out there (in this effectively Infinite Universe); and secondly that there is some kind of Benevolent Being (put there especially for us) who, furthermore, will only save those who satisfy His particular criteria. That is to say those who both believe, in Him; and also worship him in the correct way. To say that the vast entity of the Universe exists only for Man, is yet another manifestation of his supreme arrogance.. .
Concerning the non existence of god
I think that God (so-called) is an artificial construct, of our (human) intelligence...
