I think that they are the ones who are "misguided" All "Mainstream God" is today, is a money-making machine that supports Corrupt Church Elites; who (as an Entity) pay No Tax. This (to my way of thinking) borders on the Criminal, and is a Wholesale Deception of the Gullible People, who make up church congregations, the world over - NOT just Americans...
Everything comes from within the self. All perceptions arise from it. Religious people may get upset by "rudeness" and "condescension" from non-believers; however more annoying still is the treatment Atheists (and other religions) mostly get from Christians; that is to say, other religions are missguided in their beliefs. Worst of all is the old routine that: Atheists are "poor souls who need saving" not intelligent people who have actively decided that there is no God (or certainly not one who is present in our Solar System)...
The real problem, as I see it, is that God has imbued "itself" into the American Psyche. Obviously, this goes back to the Founding Fathers, and the Mayflower. Since many people refuse to think for themselves, then there God remains (almost as a squatting tenant, in an otherwise empty house). It used to take a brave person to be an atheist in America; and in some ways, it takes a brave person, still....
"Most people would rather die, than think for themselves"
I don't believe in God, because (and to give just one reason, among countless examples); is why would any "God" (so-called) allow people like Ted Bundy, and John Wayne Gacy, or Son of Sam, etc, etc, etc,....to walk the Earth? I mean to say why would God create these bad eggs, in the first place???
ok V, I'm not sure that he is RC (and don't hold that against him) but selective deletions do not help one win a "reasoned debate" (if such a thing exists here). Btw I got Rosehipsters "dander up" by mentioning "In the Closet of the Vatican" (before my comment was selectively deleted). Funny how they only believe what suits them, when it suits them, no?
Well one of them (Sir_T) uses "cancel culture" to delete comments which flummox him. And the other (Fargo), is presently off learning new words from his Expanded Oxford Dictionary (probably)....
