One of the first US communes I read about was in Oneida,New York.They successfully made silverware.The
Children slept in a separate home from the intermingling adults.They were all educated and musicians as well. For these reasons,they were accepted by the locals.They held concerts,picnics on their grounds for the public.All residents were learning new skills despite gender.It disbanded as the next generation sought marriage outside the Utopia and traveled for unemployment.Circa 1900s ?
