RE: "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished"

Good gracious. What a lot of hoops to have to jump through just to be a business owner dealing with other countries. As a consumer with the help of the Internet I can order from almost anywhere. I've noticed that a lot of people from other countries than the US have shops on Ebay, Etsy, and Amazon. I wonder if going through one of those would make it any easier?

RE: All our advisers are busy, please hold

There are times I've been put on interminable hold too. I realize the reason is probably a severe lack of staff. If conditions allow I will put the phone on speaker so I won't be tied down with a receiver attached to my ear and just wait it out. In the end it is usually quicker than calling back at another time.

RE: One Sick Puppy

Bella is such a sweet little girl. I hope all ends up well with her. I truly do know the pain involved when a you lose a beloved friend like that so we will just count on her being around for years to come. After all small dogs usually live longer than large ones and I know she has been well taken care of.

RE: Benefits of Friends

I agree so much Imp. There is nothing better than seeing old friends and enjoying catching up with laughter and great camaraderie. Hopefully the two of you can make room for that bike trip and make more good memories.

RE: Maybe you have a wait problem...

Sometimes I run out of patience too, chat. Talking about sending e-mails I can send my sister an email from North Carolina to Kentucky and it reaches her in no more than a minute. When she sends me an e-mail it takes at least 5 minutes before I receive it. I'm not sure if the slowdown is due to the sending end or the receiving end.

RE: Who is Here From Matchdoctor?

Hi bluewind and chat. hug It's nice to see you here.

RE: Freedom Of Speech

I'm all for those who don't want to read particular blogs to scroll past. It takes but a second to hit the scroll wheel and swoop past 8 blogs at a time. Having said that if the powers that be on this site were to create a tab for politics and current events I could go for that too.

RE: My blessing, today my daughter was flown in rom Frisco and will drive with me back to the West Coast

Thank you for the kind welcome Lindsy.

RE: Conserv'tive? Lib'rul? What Are YOU?

I took the poll and probably didn't give it a fair chance to assess me because I answered at least half the questions "Maybe" due to the fact I didn't think some of the questions should have been so close ended but that is the nature of polls and why I normally avoid them like the plague.

When it asked for income I typed in "none of your business" because I immediately thought that was an opportunistic and possibly self serving question. I could be the most wealthy of liberal movie stars or the poorest homeless veteran who is extremely patriotic and conservative. Why does income matter? I didn't give a gender because I didn't want to be stereotyped.

Nevertheless the quiz determined that I was 45% Democrat and 55% Republican. I believe based partially upon my "income" answer that they labeled me economically as a liberal. I'm supposing the lack of answering the gender question and all of the "Maybe" answers put me in their assumed "liberal" social category.

To answer, am I living among my political kind,

My state has more registered Democrats than Republicans. The numbers are not that far off though. In 2017 we ended up with registered Independents outnumbering registered Republicans. I'm a registered Independent and have been since 2001 so I figure I fall in the middle.

RE: My blessing, today my daughter was flown in rom Frisco and will drive with me back to the West Coast

A journey well documented. You have a lovely family and I'm so glad you made it to your destination safe and sound. Good wishes for the future in your new home.

RE: Reason 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 why I am not a liberal

Thanks so much, Doc.

RE: Parasailing

The enlarged picture of the Parasailer with the backdrop of the mountains is breathtaking. How far away would you estimate the mountains are in that picture? They look so close.

It's awesome that your market venue is having such success. Arts and crafts shows make great browsing for me and I'm sure it is a huge draw for anyone wanting to spend a leisurely day outside to soak up some of the great outdoors.

RE: Reason 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 why I am not a liberal

It's unfortunate in this age of supersonic immediate communication via the Internet et al, which is also readily available to the masses, then throw in politically biased so called "journalists" at sources which claim to report the news but which are pure propaganda factories and in many cases, especially in the political arena instead of reporting the news which does happen they literally create and manipulate what happens and call it the news. The Photoshopping of pictures, with a political agenda in mind is just another of those tactics that we all see daily.

I'm on Facebook and if I've seen one jacked up, misleading, derogatory, Photoshopped picture of President Trump and his voters I've seen ten thousand in under two years. Like most others I'm not crazy about it but have more tolerance for it when its done in a humorous way rather than a mean spirited way but nowadays when it comes to politics humor and mean-spiritedness has a way of melding together and the reality is that every entity with a political agenda uses that stratagem.

On the topic of political parties, Bah Humbug. I give an allegiance and loyalty to none although my political philosophy leans conservative not liberal so I make my voting choices from what's available at the ballot box that comes closest to my political philosophy and goals for the country. Since 2001 I've been a registered Independent. I don't want any party thinking they have me in their grip. I vote in all primaries and general elections. I give donations directly to candidates I support and never to a political party.

RE: Community Garden

Excellent idea. I have often wondered about community gardens and have passed by them when driving home from work but never joined because they weren't close to my home. If I'm not mistaken Eastham used to belong to one. If so she would be a person who could give lots of advice from her experience.

RE: Reason 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 why I am not a liberal

miclee

My apologies to all of the netherworldly types. Admittedly I took advantage of their uniqueness in helping me craft my comment.

RE: Unpealling

I agree with those who said post on the community pages and let your true personality shine through. Also, it is important to thoroughly read the profile of the person you are interested in contacting. Some people are here for friends and participating in blogs and forums only. They are not here to make a match. That fact is usually clearly stated on their profile but for whatever reason the disclosure is often not paid attention to. At any rate I wish you all the best and great luck in finding what you are seeking.

RE: Que sera, sera

For me except for my youthful years in the care of my parents where my early life was rigidly guided I find life has been a series of choices based upon conditions I'm living in at any given time over which I have little control.

Fast forward to young adulthood when striking out on my own with full control of my decisions, I tended to make some good and some bad ones but learned from all.

What has led me to this particular juncture in my life was a decision along with my then husband to leave the comfort of family and home in our small town and its barren work landscape with few opportunities and travel to a location which afforded more hope for a better future and that was one of the hardest decisions I've made in my adulthood. However, it afforded us the chance to develop and follow careers as grown adults are apt to do. Without knowing the alternative which would have occurred had we not made the decision to leave I'll have to settle on the thought that it wasn't the worst decision I could have made but it left an empty spot in my heart from missing daily personal interaction with my family and the familiar shelter that only home can bring.

After 30 years, I have a comfortable retirement but was never able to put away the thought that I would eventually return to what I consider my real home. What that means is even in this late stage of life, considering that some things are outside my control, I still have a great deal of freedom and opportunity to customize my life experience by making a choice.

RE: Having a heck of a day......

Starting the day with humor is my cup of tea. Thanks for the funny jokes everyone.

RE: Europe must pay their fair share of THEIR national defense

Yes, the US is enormously in debt and we need to cut spending. It's time for Europe to pay what they agreed to for their own national defense.

It's hard to believe that Trump is the first U. S. President to address this particular issue.

RE: Who is Here From Matchdoctor?

Yes, Date Hookup shut down a couple of months ago. Date Hookup was sold to Match.com I think a year or so before it shut down. From the time it was purchased by Match.com anyone who signed up for Date Hookup was led to believe they would join Date Hookup, but mixed in the fine print people were told that signing up for Date Hookup would make them members of other affiliated sites.

There were online complaints at various complaint sites that people who went to Date Hookup and signed up were not given Date Hookup memberships and had no access to the Date Hookup site. Their membership actually went to Match.com. Eventually Date Hookup shut down as BlueSky60 stated. It was nice though that Date Hookup gave people a warning of the exact date the site would be closed.

RE: Who is Here From Matchdoctor?

I noticed the other day I didn't mention my MD name and since my name is so different from what it was it will be hard to figure out . I've been trying to e-mail people and let them know who I am but it will be much easier on me to make a post in this thread because I'm sure people will be reading it. I'm the former dixiepixie. It's good to see everyone.

RE: You Learn Something Every Day...

You've described another beautiful outing. The surroundings with wildflowers sounds so inviting and peaceful. I'm sure you captured some memorable photos.

RE: Elderly New Jersey woman on oxygen dies after power company cuts electric

Jim,

It is so true that ambulance rides cost quite a bit. It wouldn't have been a consideration for me although I'm not rich. However, we all have our own decisions to make as to how we would react when a family member is in need and I know I would have ordered the ambulance ride to the hospital regardless. In a life threatening situation I would assume that if the lady were below the poverty level perhaps welfare would have paid for the transport but I can't say for sure.

RE: Things that make you smile

I've seen ice bucket challenges but I haven't seen the police officer challenges. I'll have to take a look.

RE: Why does Donald Trump bother?

Donald Trump loves this country and wants to fix those things that have gone wrong. He's doing a great job against all odds.

RE: Who is Here From Matchdoctor?

I'm from MD and was there under a different name. I was a member here on CS for years quite a long time ago. Then sort of drifted away and found that my original profile was no longer available so I signed up again a few months back under the current profile name.

RE: Leave it to a Beaver...

Oh I'm so glad that the girl was looking out for the beaver's safety. When I saw your picture of the bridge it reminded me of a bridge back home in Kentucky.

I must be blind because I am for the first time discovering that there is a "like" feature for blogs on this site. Well better late than never in learning something new.

RE: Nobel Peace prize and the brilliant US President......

President Trump's maximum pressure on China with behind the scenes negotiations for trade and economics and the guarantee that if North Korea continues shooting off missiles we will destroy much of that country's access to even the minimal technological and military resources they have and likely destroy half their country as well, which in the end would cause multiple millions of North Koreans to flood China as refugees needing food, shelter and medical care, which would be a disaster for China, are only two of the pressures the US is putting on China to encourage North Korea to join the rest of the world . There is no guarantee that North Korea will comply but we will soon see and if they do President Trump indeed deserves the Nobel Peace prize. In addition, there are indeed other pressures being put to bear that we would not know of but President Trump has absolutely been the reason China has pressured North Korea and anyone who doesn't know that needs to expand the sources from which they get their news. The propaganda put out by some networks is not going to mention any of the great accomplishments President Trump has made.

RE: A Sliver of Awe

Imp, your landscape pictures (just guessing that the category of photo is "landscape") are amazing. The neon oranges, pinks, and reds present the perfect contrast to highlight the surrounding area. You take wonderful photos.

RE: Fractal Heaven

The area where you live is gorgeous. I've never lived near the mountains but do live within two hours of the mountains in one direction while in the opposite direction a couple of hours from the ocean. You've captured a lot of interesting detail with your fractal photos. Thanks for sharing.
