Hi Palm, I always like to read your blogs, they're always well written and express so much. Normally I don't comment 'cos it usually gets me into trouble but in this case I thought I should say that, 1 + 1 = 2 not half or one and a half but a whole TWO. You should be your beautiful, poetic self and he should be whatever he is. Don't be half of anything, don't compromise, do what you do and be who you are.
In the last seven years I have had four meaningful relationships. With three of them, there was that little warning voice, you know the one, nagging away in the depths of my mind. The relationships were each working fine until one day, I began to compromise. Then I compromised more, and more and finally, I bailed. See, I should have listened to that little voice, I knew I should but I didn't. So if you hear that voice you have to make a decision.
I need to say here that I learned a lot, in each relationship I learned many things or was reminded of things I'd forgotten and needed to update and bring back into my life. So! Was it a loss? Absolutely not because in the next relationship, I will listen for the voice. If it is there, I will know this will never be long term, if the voice is not there, I will continue, happy in the knowledge that I have learned so much, will learn a lot more and, have a lot more to give.
Nothing is ever a failure, it is only ever another opportunity to learn stuff you need to know and you should never beat yourself up about needing to change the man. Once you start to compromise, get out. Voila.

This is not new, I was aware of this many years ago, probably before the ANC was invented, surely it is widely accepted? How come it is suddenly new news?!
Silly me, it is the usual myopia where people conveniently overlook the facts and, as in this case, even try to rewrite history.

Keepers, yes I agree and the blinkered attitudes of the American public are a testament to the effectiveness of propaganda via the idiot box which they all fervently believe. Nobody looks at the history or the potential reality, because it doesn't fit with their understanding of it. The fact is, all of this is planned by the money which controls the Governments and that is why The Trumps of this world ignore the truth of any given situation. I don't normally get into topics like this because there's sod all I can do about it so I'll bow out now.

I've collected four panthers since '15 varying in age from 33 to 52. From my point of view, I learned that finding a woman to fit my personality was not actually that difficult, when I thought it would be. We parted, in each case, for other compatibility reasons but it taught me that a match was possible. Thank you Universe for panthers. Life is all about learning stuff, not collecting stuff.

Keepers, don't be self critical on that, you know my background but since I retired in 09 it has advanced without me. I must be honest, my first semi-smart phone was a Blackberry and it took me a while to master that and then when I changed to Galaxy it was another world again. Steep learning curve! Each new thing is totally different so go easy on yourself. Good luck with your to do list!

Mercedes, are crocs renown for their underwater discussion skills? The only discussion I know of relating to crocs, is the death roll and the meat locker stuff! And, I think they might struggle with your sense of humour.

New girl must be busy, so I thought I'd dip in here, yes respect without love can happen, indeed I respect a lot of people whom I do not love nor are they my friends, but I agree, it is paramount in a relationship.

Swami, I'm guessing you're not a chap who has a lot to do with animals. Respect is very natural but as you point out, sometimes it is the only recourse in saving the animals life. All betas respect alphas and omegas respect everyone. It is the order of things. And an alpha animal will recognise an alpha human. Being human does not automatically entitle one to respect however.

Sky, maybe you should add to your Profile that a Green Card is not automatic on issue of a marriage certificate. It's the same in France now and the UK I believe. Marriage gets you nothing!

Keepers, No not for the day, I must be good and behave. New Girl is in bed at the moment as they're six hours behind us here. Anyway I really have to finish building this kitchen, now I've finished with taming the garden. Last rub down and varnish on the kitchen cabinets carcases today, then I can clad the walls and put in the electrics. After that, I'll build the base and put in the work top and hob. I'm looking forward to having the space when I can throw out the old cooker and dresser I'm using as a kitchen at the moment.

Mercedes, I think it is important that things do wander off topic because then so many other interesting things are encompassed. What seems like a thousand years ago, when I was billeted for training, I shared a room with a guy from Liverpool and one night we talked for hours about one thing and another and finally found ourselves wondering how we wound up at the point we had reached. So we traced it back and it was so interesting how one topic had led to another and to see what the links were.

Biff, thanks for dropping by, you would probably be right if she knew I was even on here, but she doesn't and as she doesn't speak English is unlikely to find herself up here. And this is why I haven't been here for a week, because I felt I should be faithful to what may develop. I only came to ask this question, because it interested me, but then I got caught up in other blogs which I find so compelling and of course had to come back this morning to answer responses on this blog. But I'm being good, honest, no ogling or looking at potential candidates, truly.

Sorry team, I was invited to dinner with friends. Forty minute drive each way. I took New Girl on the phone. That was interesting. Friends don't speak Spanish, she doesn't speak French, but somehow it worked and with much hilarity.

Mercedes, EK, thanks, I appreciate the input. I guess these are things we have to learn as individuals and it frustrates me sometimes how people have to keep re-inventing the wheel when the answers are clearly there before them. It's the hot thing again! A child has no concept of hot until it has touched the pretty glowing red thing. Then it has.
I had not previously thought of respect in terms of my own life but yes, that is when it all fell apart, she lost her self respect, I won't be boring with detail, took to medication and fell into the abyss. I should have recognised what was happening and pulled her back before it was too late but I didn't. My fault entirely.
