RE: eliminating government in the post Reagan age

NY gov whined..I need more than anybody else..I demand it. So now, he has sent PPE to others cause he DIDN'T need it all. And the ship Comfort gave up and headed home cause never had more than a 100 beds filled.
I see the greed factor kicked in, Big Brother give me. So stand in line...others need also.

RE: Virus vaccines update

Problem with Covid is no medical people understand it and they all disagree. The res is said to work to shorten a few days to better. Not that super. And China says it doesn't.
It sounds like six blind men describing and elephant by feel.
What I wonder about is the immune factor. Japan says they had 100 cases of re-infection. Saw a guy on TV that said he got better, tested negative and then got sick again and positive. So??? New or regenerated old.
Now, if showing immune response does not mean you can't get it again..what good will a vaccine be.
I have no faith in flu vaccines. They throw darts at a board and say, well, this one was last year, and that was two years so we THINK the odds are this year will be those. And then they hit maybe 15%. Plus the fact you can still get the ones they didn't include. So with a track record like that, why should I believe in a vaccine for a corona virus they don't understand that can mutate like a cold bug. Especially when they can't prove immune markers can guarantee future immunity.confused

RE: A Serious Idea for You to Ponder

Why does no one ever just believe a wet paint sign? Does no parking cut down on kissing, etc.

RE: Seasoning Cast Iron Skillet

Mom used cast lots. She could season them great on stove top. When I bought mine, brought them to her to do. I read the best is 150 in oven for a couple hours. Never wash them.
Moms pans were her pride of perfection. One summer, her Aunt and Uncle were up. Good old dumb blonde Aunt wanted to help mom clean up. Mom tried to push her off cause mom said after Aunt helped, she had to dig in trash to find the silver ware. lol. Mom had the cast sitting on the stove. She turned and Aunt said..oh I can wash this...NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Before she could yelp, the pan was in the sink of hot soapy water. ARGH! How she kept her cool to explain, I have no idea. So mom had to do the pan all over.
I don't cook with mine anymore, use electric pans. My fellow uses his tho. He told me he had a new set, he just had for show. Pa was over one day and had one on stove. So, he guessed might as well start using it.. dunno

RE: WHAT DO I HAVE TO GET WOMAN TO MESSAGE ME?

Stop trying to find a soul mate. Try just looking for a friend that you can talk with and maybe it will blossom. I met my guy on Craigs, Strictly Platonic, when they did dating. Quit due to trafficers and trolls.
We wrote back and forth and became friends. Then to meeting. He drove 60 miles to me. more visits and then we wanted more.
Don't be desperate sounding. You aren't shopping for a car! Too many options and you never find what you seek.

RE: Now I know for some time to never ever trust a political person.

Politicians speak with forked tongue. Nothing new. I have always been cautious in the winter. Wear gloves in stores. And thought long ago about the risk walking into an aisle someone just went through. But, until we become Japan and wear masks all the time, people think you are strange if you do.
With old age, I kind of like the idea. Burkas and Chadors start to appeal too. Put on an air of mystery instead of sags and wrinkles.laugh wink

RE: eliminating government in the post Reagan age

At the founding of this country is was decided that we didn't need a federal government. It would be up to the states. Then, since states were arguing, a federal govt. was made to do oversight. But, the rule was they would only do that which could NOT be handled by the state govt. In other words..states are to take care of themselves first.
As time went on, the people who want power expanded the federal govt. to become a ruler over the states.
And the states started whining to the feds whenever something was difficult.
Now we have two warring parties..feds versus states. Big Brother grabs the money and then doles it back out as they see fit. Maybe we should go back to the Constitution. You know, that dusty, old paper in a museum along with the rest of those quaint artifacts.scold

RE: New York City now has its own snitch line!

I agree that see something, say something has gotten out of hand. I listen to a scanner. It is ridiculous. Calls because a car is parked too long. Someone wearing a black hoodie is walking after dark. Some kid is walking with a backpack. Must be a kid running away..no..an adult walking back from the store, just happens to be small.
Our people are turning into China. How to keep control..turn everyone into squealers. Make sure when driving you stay straight in the lane or someone will call the cops to tell them you are weaving. Someones garage door is open, they are sitting slumped in the car at Walmart...uh, no..they are napping waiting or watching their phone in their lap! There are kids on the sidewalk, car, or a dog. Oh, never mind, driver just came out an left after a few minutes in the store. Oh, never mind the car was running with AC on.
A caller told dispatch she wanted a cop to drive by her place every hour on the hour cause kids were making noise...silence and cop said..I am not going to do that!
What happened to mind your own business or check it out yourself? Cops are not dog catchers, baby sitters, security guards, door unlockers and the rest. Every time they go on silly calls is a time when they are diverted from calls where a life my be on the line.
Whatever happened to common sense people?frustrated

Name ONE positive that has come out of the stay at home.

This is kind of a bad news/good news thing I have been taught. My husband was in ICU and his breathing was being shut down by his MS. I had cared for him as an invalid for 20 years and no way I was going to stop. I told the Doctor if nothing else to put him on a respirator. She argued. During a time when he was awake, she asked HIM if he wanted it. And he said no.
I was angry at her, he went onto a comma then and never came out of it. I blamed her for taking my last time with him away.
Now I see what it means to be on one. He was on oxygen. The next would have been a VENTILATOR. He was an OR tech in the Army and knew more than me. I see now, what life he had with me would have been gone. Unable to speak or eat and how could I transfer him and care for him. He would ahve had a feeding tube too. A friend, a nurse told me I couldn't care for him that way at home.
So, this Covid mess has given me one good thing, peace of mind. The Doc took the decision out of my hands. And so did he. Rest in peace my precious baboo.crying kiss

Name ONE positive that has come out of the stay at home.

Jimmy Fallon is doing his show from home. Stars skype on the TV from home. So do other notable people. Tom Hanks and his wife. Some of the news broadcasters set studio style areas up they broadcast from. But, lots of people pick a room in their house and show an area.

RE: "SOME THINGS THAT ARE OLD"..("MICLEE"S 21st CENTURY")

Still in the same pl;ace..Wisconsin. Farm country. I remember sitting in front of dad on the tractor going out to the field.
Til I got too big. Then sit on the fender and get long arms because he ordered me to hang onto fender back and headlamp! Get off when we got to the field. He would go plow and I would walk behind in the soft, warm furrows looking for worms and anything interesting. I miss him and those warm days.crying

RE: "SOME THINGS THAT ARE OLD"..("MICLEE"S 21st CENTURY")

I remember shopping on Friday nights in town. Three blocks full of stores. Stores were open til 9pm. Otherwise 5. Closed noon on Saturday, many anyway. Sunday all were closed. It took hours to shop cause you ran into neighbors and yakked.
Mom made a list. If you forgot something..too bad..wait til next month.
Now the town is a ghost town. Mostly empty store fronts. And people shop any time on the north side at Wally World.
We had two dime stores, 4 drugstores, 3 hardware, 6 or more clothing, 3 shoe stores. And more..all for a city of a few thousand. Now the downtown is lawyer offices and bars.
Of course, tons of shopping was done out of the Sears and Wards catalogs and picked up in the store or shipped. Remember the Xmas Wish book? I would look at toys forever. Mark lots. Then mom would tell me..pick out 5 you REALLY want. And then your dad and I will decide which, if any, you get for Xmas.
I learned to "own" things by picture and get bored with things NOT owning them. No impulse buying for me.
