RE: Aliens vs Angels

Something to mull over once you find a copy, regarding "giants". The Dead Sea Scrolls have produced the most thorough account of giants in a part of the Book of Enoch that had not been known before it was found amongst the damaged scrolls from Qumran. It is called simply "The Book of Giants". It begins by telling of some secret knowledge held by these giants and of their ruthlessness towards people/ humans.
The giants eventually realize that the forces of heaven can not be overcome and a character named as Gilgamesh enters the story. No one can decypher whether this is the same Gilgamesh of the ancient Sumerian tales or not but he is described as one of the giants who was 'forced' to have a dream. The vision that one called Ohya is made to experience is of a tree that is uprooted by it's roots but three. Another dream tells of things that bode ill for the giants. The dreamer speaks to monsters, created by the Gods, then to the giants also made by these Gods. Enoch then attempts to interpret these dreams with a 'Mahway' who makes a request of Enoch. Enoch sends back a message of judgment asking that the giants repent of their sins as destruction will come for the monsters of the earth and themselves.
Sometimes this book reads as if it is both a mixture of Sumerian and ancient Hebraic histories. Which many Middle Eastern languages derive from Sumerian.
If you are familiar with the Sumerian tales of the enmity between Enki,(The God of human creation) and his brother Enlil,(who tries to wipe out the humans created by the Lord of the Earth, Enki, you'll recognize some very familiar events in this Book Of Giants.
As time went on, both Enki and Enlil, went through many names from different cultures and times. They were not of this earth and thus had much longer lifespans. It is very interesting to compare the many names and attributes over the ages toward the coming of Christ...wine

RE: Home Alone.....

You fell down, then sprayed furniture polish into the air instead of air freshener? Hey, most spray furniture polish contains lemon, so that would hurt unless you had accidentally sprayed one of the cats; I have cats and at times they seem to need being sprayed with either water or sometimes air freshener, but not furniture polish; cats are hard to polish...though, mind you, it can glisten their coats and give them a nice lemony scent...rolling on the floor laughing

RE: My Music Box of Christmas

Mariamozart;
Oh there are dozens by that name 'Ave Maria' that go all the way back to the 13th century by various religious monks, Sisters from different convents, to Hildegard von Bingen, not to mention all the renditions in Gregorian chants by both Catholic and Russian Orthodox liturgical music. The Holy Mother was always inspirational.
Look up Caccini and Vladimir Vavilove, you should find a good account of what occurred and how the mistake was made, and finally corrected.laugh wine Merry Christmas!

RE: My Music Box of Christmas

Guilio Caccinini was not the original composer but one Vladimir Vavilove was in 1970. He recorded the original score also under the Melodiya labeled Records.
Seems a monk wrongfully and by mistake ascribed it to Caccini....wine

RE: Holidays around the corner....

Many of us are in the same situation about holidays...almost no reason to leave home and just stay in...
Visited Brazil back in the 70's; loved Petropolis and Sao Paulo; Rio too crowded but loved the train rides and the beaches! Went upriver to Manaus and much further...great way to have a 'holiday'!wine

RE: EU strikes again, young women drivers this time

This may well force a lot to stop driving their cars thus reducing traffic on roads; a possible benefit in the long run...wine

RE: What happened to the Santa

If you're ever strolling along a street in NYC or some other large city during Christmas time, it is common to see drunken and/or passed out "Santas" in the alleyways with a bottle or two of wine or after-shave...
Department stores have a hard time finding a 'rent-a-Santa' for their toy departments to entertain the kids because most of the men they hire are alcoholics and drunks, getting more drunk the longer they 'work' in the kid's toys section...makes for great videos of Santa falling over his chair or some kid...no one ever helps them up; they lie there raving drunk until Security hauls them off the a back alley to 'sober up' laugh

RE: What are the things singles can do in Qatar on wee

In most armies one does time in 'Chicken Patrols'...searching and picking up whatever specified from the ground. Try setting up your own and go pick up spent shell casing out in the sands when you find any...take some beer in a cooler and an umbrella; worked out in the Sahara, should also in Qatar...laugh wine

RE: what i did by weekend

I love Chinese style furniture and art, but pieces are very hard to come by, so I make my own and paint them; paintings and prints also. I used to make screens and sell them, all custom designed. One day, I must get to China on a shopping spree!!!

RE: No matter....

Life is full of disappointments and difficulties, you can solve and overcome them more easily by reducing all to the simple question: "How would Genghis Khan handle this?"laugh

RE: Science or wealth

Well, one does science to understand how to get around, through or cancel out all the electronic alarm systems of a bank and its vault for you to rob and get your 'piece of the pie'...laugh

RE: Dont Be Afriad !!!

The old theme and refrain of "It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved"

It has certainly been of no consolation whatsoever to me over time. I came to the conclusion a long time ago that I'd rather not have any memories of Love(s) to look back on as one cannot live on old memories. Over time, they become stale like old bread. I'd prefer the 'here and now' concepts of a tangible and physical form of love, as well as emotional, of course as one cannot embrace any physicality of mere memories...

Finding youself, maybe; then what?

So much potential; so little time in which to realize it and loose it by neglect or indecision...introspection is a terrible chore for many, sad but true; it can free you; it can terrify you. Which is harder to face, Life or introspection..? laugh

Finding youself, maybe; then what?

Bravo for you lana, it takes a lot to stand up for our fellow humans that are being mistreated or unjustly treated. I will say, with tongue -in-cheek, that some groups like 'intelligence services' call what they do 'humanitarian work' by wiping out others and let's not forget the 'ladies of the night; also do 'humanitarian work'...seems the term 'humanitarian' is relative...laugh Yours is a lot better though!

RE: You only live twice...

The rest of that quote goes, "once when you are born and once when you die" think about it...Time is relative, just like sanity or so many other things when not looked at in different perspectives.

RE: Inquiry?

"doesn't look exactly like the picture perfect person they portrayed..." The word 'exactly' is rather open ended as your further 'what if's' no real specifics.
Hardly anyone photographs well unless done by a professional in a studio. It is rare to actually take a 'snapshot' of someone that shows up well. Too many factors.
If there is a 'huge' age difference in appearance or 'major' differences in the actual face then something is wrong. Go with your 'gut feeling'. If the person's appearance makes you uncomfortable, be honest and at least tell them. You would be doing them a disservice in not telling them; if however you actually like the person's personality, tell them also and if you need time to really think and to decide which of the factors really appeal to you, tell him. Then tell him your decision, preferably face to face.
And always tell the truth as you see it; the operative word here is 'see', be it on the outside or the inside...
