Hi Jo! You'll enjoy this forum and have lots of fun chatting with some good people. You MIGHT even meet a good match! It's happened on more than one occasion, so good luck!
Hey Ship! How are you? I've missed your posts!! LOVE your new pic!
What's a date????
The last guy I "dated" lasted 4 months. He was tall, fun, great bod for his age (64) and the goodnight kisses were awesome. I wondered why it never went past the kisses. Turns out he was gay! I was sooo bamboozled!! I won't give up and look forward to "dating" after I get settled in North Carolina!
Duh!! Kitten, what's sagacity? (Belief? conviction?) Hate to say it, but in all my years I've never heard it before. I must live under a dam rock!!
Anyway, this is a GREAT words of wisdom to live by. Kitten is right that we sometimes let our hearts take over while our minds go to sleep! I've screwed up a couple of times in my life but really learned a lesson in both cases. At MY age I think it might be better to have a man in my life but not in my house!
Mummy, I once got chewed out big time by someone who read my bio where I mentioned I'm looking for a tall man! He jumped all over me like white on rice trying to convince me that short men have feelings and HIS feelings were hurt by my statement. Yeeeesh!! (It was in another site.) I "prefer" taller men but certainly don't have any animosity toward shorter men. I'm fairly tall and think I have a right to mention my preferences! He can look like 40 miles of torn up road as long as he's tall!
Kitten...nice to see you! I WILL catch up this afternoon because I'm taking a break. All work and no play...as they say! Good for you stickin with this crazy group! That's sad about the OP of "The Older Set" leaving. I think being busy is a good thing, which I am most of the time, BUT I sure do miss this website! (not that I think I'll meet Mr. Right, but it's a fun place to chat with good people.)
Dave... I LOVE it when a man can make me laugh! The visual effect of you dancing in a pink elephant suit would definitely do it!! Wow... Zella is gone? I thought Dandelion was just taking a little break but SHE is gone as well? Bummer! She was great and I adored her posts because she was so down-to-earth like me.
I'll go back and read a few pages to catch up! BBL
Hi Dave & Dragonfly! Dave.....I've read many of your posts and probably responded to a few. I HATE that you don't recognize me!! Nothin like makin a good impression on someone!!
Where's pretty Dakota? How's Charlie (Rogue Cop)? Zella? Dandelion? Shipoker? Paddy? Stefonline? Rwantin? Guess I'll have to go back a few pages to catch up on everybody AND read the names of new members.
Hey everybody! I'm busier than a one-armed paper hanger and haven't had time to read posts or reply to any. After a week-long family reunion in Tennessee last month, I've been packing to get ready for my move from Kentucky to North Carolina. I'm dreading the process but can't wait to be near my son, DIL, and granddaughter.
I'm a little caught up and will try to read a few posts this afternoon. Have I missed any good matches? Is "GuitarMan" still happy and in love? A poster in "The Older Set" found a great guy and I'm sure there's been more since I last posted in mid-August.
SHIP....have fun wherever you are today! What's POF? (sorry... I've definitely been living under a rock here in No-Town, Kentucky! )
ARABELLA... Don't feel bad! MY last date was three years ago and ya know what? I DON'T CARE!! much!!
ULI....I'm so dang busy lately I only have time to check into THIS topic each morning, but good luck with your new topic.
JAGS....is right about the jerks sending us flowers and e-mails!! Trust me, it's almost annoying because as she said, the minute you tell them you won't give out your phone # or e-mail address, they disappear! Maybe they think we can't spell S C A M !!
SASSIE/Mary....hang in there. The longer you live alone, the more used to it you become. Hey...buy a dog like me! You'll feel soooo loved everyday!
CHER....take care of your back. I know the pain of it and definitely can relate.
Loves2, Dreamer, Honest, Judy...everyone...HAVE A GREAT DAY!!
Awwww, DREAMER, I know what you mean about the "drama." For sure our kids today don't raise THEIR kids like WE did! Savannah, my granddaughter, can be a little brat with her Mother but when she's with me, she's a sweetheart. My DIL doesn't know how to say "NO," or "Your butt will be purple if you do that again!" Haha MY kids only had to see that LOOK on my face to know it was time to shape up! Hey..don't feel bad about your kids living all over the place. My daughter, SIL, and 2 grandsons live in Florida! I only get to see them 2 or 3 times a year! I hate it.
DON.....I'll bet your flat tire is fixed and you've driven off in that Turnip truck !! You never stick around to chat!
LOVES2....I KNOW! It seems like more of us are busy lately.
SHIP...where is ya??? Don't be a stranger!
CHER....so glad to hear your back is better. Winston-Salem, N.C... well actually outside of the city in the burbs!!!
JUDY...we're not "old." We're young chickens in mature bods!!
I spent the day "staging" the house getting ready for the real estate agent tomorrow. I've watched waaaay too many "Sell This House" tv shows and know what they do like the back of my hand! My sister came home and said, "Wow!! If this wasn't MY house, I'd want to buy it!!" All I did was remove a few pictures on the walls, stored a few things that I thought was "clutter," even though it wasn't, AND re-arranged the guest bedroom to make it look bigger because it's the smallest room in the house. Mirrors are the best thing since bread! Haha
JAG and I have been sending notes back and forth about about young 40 year old guys hitting on us and how we immediately smell rats in the woodpile! Do they think because we're older we have "STUPID" stamped on our foreheads??? It's amazing. AND...we don't have "DESPARATE" stamped on them either!! Grrrrrrr!
Have a great evening everybody! I may check back later, if I don't fall asleep in the middle of "Shaq's Big Challenge." (I admire what he's doing for those kids.)
JAG....PLEASE tell your Mom Happy Belated Birthday! Wow for her living such a long life!
CHER....sorry to hear you've got a bad back! GET WELL!!
STARLIN....hate for you having a bad time of it over the weekend. At least it is NOW done with! Hope there's finally closure!
MY news is that my sister and her DH are calling off the divorce proceedings. They separated last August as friends. He went his way, my sister bought this house and I joined her to share expenses. Well, this past April they started playing golf on weekends and have decided to cancel the divorce and get back together. "I" am moving to N.C. to be near my son, DIL, and granddaughter. It's exciting.
There's lots to do getting this house on the market, packing, planning, and preparing for MY move.....BUT I will post from time to time to see how you're all doing.
Well THIS topic has been dead as a doornail today! I guess it's because it's Sunday and there ARE some of us who go to church and do family things. I miss my son, DIL and granddaughter who live in Winston-Salem AND my daugher, SIL, 2 grandsons who live in Florida. All I have here are my sister and nephew with his wife and their little 2 year daughter who is a total brat. I'm trying to avoid her til she reaches the age of "NOT so much a brat!!"
Back in the day, a swift smack on the butt would correct her screaming fits ... but sadly.... not today!! "Oh look how cute! She's EXPRESSING herself!!"
DAN ....I keep hearing about Canada and the fact they have a generalized health plan that covers EVERYONE in that country. Maybe that's something THIS country should have. Wouldn't it be a novel idea for our government to be "working on it?"
Good morning Skye! I agree with Loves2 that Maine has some beautiful but rugged coastline. My Dad used to go to Maine once a year for a weeks fishing trip with 5 buddies from work. He'd come home with so much Rainbow Trout, it was enough to last a year. I love it to this day!
Loves2....I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure most guys prefer a natural look than bleached and perfect...like mine!
That's so sad that your dancing partner danced with someone else. He's a LOSER!! Maybe you'll find a NEW hotter dancer next time you go.
CHER...I agree that keeping our "older set" thoughts and posts to this thread is a better idea than throwing them out to the wolves. So many are under the age of 40 and can't relate to half of what we talk about.
I SHOULD get my butt in gear but keep finding another topic to reply to. Grrrrr! There ARE a few nice guys who can carry on a conversation in the living room vs. the bedroom!!
Hmmmm...not sure. Maybe you'll find out! YOU are the one looking remember? I'm here to have fun chatting and meeting new friends. If Mr. Wonderful comes along, that's fine. If not, that's fine as well!
Rob...thank YOU for responding. I'm loving some good conversation with two great guys. (Some of these ladies will NEVER know how much fun it is chatting about sports!! Ahhh, but they're much younger and that explains a lot of things.)
Like you, I can't WAIT for football to start. I'm a die-hard Patriot fan (born and raised in New England.) Hey, your Tigers beat the crap out of my Red Sox a couple of weeks ago! What's goin on???? I went to an Oriole game back in the early 90's against Detroit IN Baltimore. It was great seeing some of the long-time players on both teams. Enjoy your Tiger game while you're there! Wish I could join you as a friend to talk baseball, cheer on the home team, eat a hot dog, and enjoy the All American sport!!
VICK will pay his way out of the charge but, his name will forever be linked to a despicable thing that needs to be abolished..TODAY!
I agree with you that Bonds should have an asterisk beside his name. I'm thinking that many of today's pro sports are choked with steroids and it's a shame. Most of the guys have a natural, God given talent and didn't NEED the drugs to succeed. There are so many others besides Bonds who have used them to get where they are or were. (retired players)
Hey Heather!! It's gonna be a hot day in the blue grass state today!!
Hot_T....LOL....yes! Can you believe it? A MAN WALL above our workbench? There's a clock with Brad Pitt wearing only jeans, my fav. football Q.B. Dan Marino looking mighty fine, my sister's fav Jeff Gordon, MY fav Tony Stewart, lots of Dan Marino plates, a huge pic of Liam Neeson, a smaller one of Keiefer Sutherland from "24," (our fav TV show) AND a huge one of Bon_Jovi! We're still adding to it!
RUSTY.....this is so weird because I'll bet 90% of those posting here HAVE garages and they actually DO put their cars IN the garage. Women and children wouldn't WANT to sleep in the garage because they prefer their own bedrooms and comfy beds. They say "only in America!" Well, I guess you don't have to be rich in America to own a car AND have a garage. Things must be very different where you live. Wow! Another eye-opening post to make me sit back and thank God for living here.
JUDY...I think you should keep your blogs within this topic. You might open yourself up to more negative posts by the much younger posters here who think those over 30 are OLD! If you get a nasty poster in THIS topic, we can all gang up on him/her to let them know they should get out of OUR house!!
RE: hi everyone
